A little singer-songwriter action for this song. Something that's a little outside of my usual writing style lyrically, but I enjoyed it a lot. I recorded both the vocals and piano together live (that's why you can hear the clicks of my fingers lol). Enjoy.
When the lights die down on the street
It's time to stop and breathe
Feelings come and go, but one thing remains
There's a message in a bottle
That I'm trying to get out
But the waves keep sending it back to me
No matter how hard I throw
Time to clear your mind
Let your world unwind
Good things come in time
But tonight, it's time to walk
The wind will always blow harsh
Whether late in July or the snow still in March
You gotta try to do your part when it's hard
I don't speak to a single soul
They're on the other side of the road
Where I'm going it's lonely and cold
Call the darkness my home
I'm at least a step closer to my goal
But I've gotta go at it alone
Time to clear your mind
Let your world unwind
Good things come in time
But tonight, it's time to walk
Let it heal your soul
Let it's wisdom flow
And fill up all you know
It's time to walk

This is such a wonderful peaceful piano ballad. I love the melody and your performance is superb! Great imagery and metaphoric use in the lyrics like here: "Where I'm going it's lonely and cold / Call the darkness my home". Excellently done!

Wow, Ned! First time I listen to you singing with piano. The performance is full of emotion and the mix is very pleasant. I'd be happy if I could perform like this. Chapeau!

A dramatic performance in this. I like the image of the waves returning the message and it can't get out there. Some fine lines: "Good things come in time/But tonight, it's time to walk". Enjoyed the piano as well.

This is really beautiful. Love the whole production: your piano, emotional vocals and lyrics are all in sync.

"There's a message in a bottle

No matter how hard I throw"
That's a great piece of singer-songwriting ya got there
I like that even in singer-songwriter mode you still throw those fun Ned chords in every few phrases.
The chorus is also really nice, it's very chill and resolves very nicely, while also flowing into the verse after.
