I've always wanted to live in a cottage like this one, except a different outcome.
No More Storybook

On a cobblestone street
In a small English town
Our storybook home
With a thatched roof crown
Next door to your favorite pub
By the shop where I weaved
With our storybook life
I never thought I'd leave
Pre chorus
The pub was all you cared for
I wanted our life like before
Chorus
Maybe it wasn't perfect
But it seemed a storybook to me
I worked hard, felt like I deserved it
But your drinking I couldn't believe
I guess I was just too naïve
Bridge
The cottage and our lives are crumbling
I turned the key in the lock
So when you came home stumbling
I had already moved down the block
Now our little house is empty
You took up with the barmaid
I guess none of it was real
But I still feel so betrayed
Repeat pre chorus and chorus

This is like a whole novel concentrated in just a few verses. Really vivid images and strong narration. Great rhythm in the lines, reads very pleasantly.

Your narrator paints a charming English village, as a setting for the disillusionment needed for her to move on with her life. Reality is not always pleasant, but accepting it is always freeing. Btw, I like sneaky,
creative rhymes, such perfect/deserved it, and barmaid/betrayed. Great job!
