A wee demo
Gazing at the heavens past the anorexic trees
Through their sad, contorted branches which abandoned all their leaves
The garrison of clouds have sent a message from the skies
A Godlessness I noticed first in Valentina’s eyes
Oh oh oh oh
A Godlessness I noticed first in Valentina’s eyes
Her parents empty promises did little to relieve
Her shame at ever having been so foolish to believe
Their words were something other than another pack of lies
That dull the youthful color deep in Valentina’s eyes
Oh oh oh oh
That dull the youthful color deep in Valentina’s eyes
They creep in while you’re sleeping and they pick off all your dreams
Till you wake up to a rat race that you’re losing to machines
The horizon’s catching fire and the outcome’s prophesied
Written on the gospel of my Valentina’s eyes
Oh oh oh oh
Written on the gospel of my Valentina’s eyes

You had me at "anorexic trees", and kept it up with every illustration of this sad beloved. This could be a lost Leonard Cohen song, if he kept fewer verses.

There is some great use of language here, and the 7th chord at the end of the verse is sweet! I assume the proximity to Feburary 14th inspired the name of the character here, but this does a great job of not being "a Valentine's Day song" - nice writing and performance!
