I took a couple days off this weekend to work with my friend on our new EP, and spending the time in the studio inspired me to try a more "produced" approach.
The theme is pretty abstract. I heard my son calling out to us in the middle of the night, but I was still dreaming and his voice made it into my dream. The next day I said, "Hey, I can hear your screams in my dreams!" and thought I should use that phrase as the seed of a song.
I was dreaming
That I was flying
And looking for something to do
I heard you screaming
And a-crying
I started looking for you
I woke up scared
And I said, baby
You were still asleep
So I rolled over
My heart was racing
You were still asleep
I hear your screams
In my dreams
And I don’t what it means
I hear your screams
In my dreams
And I don’t what it means
I had a dream once
That I was testing
Sharpening my number 2
I tried to fill in
My scantron bubbles
I looked down I was stabbing you
I woke up scared
I touched your shoulder
You were still asleep
I want these nightmares
To be over
You were still asleep
I hear your screams
In my dreams
And I don’t what it means
I hear your screams
In my dreams
And I don’t what it means
When we’re awake dear
Your eyes a clear dear
But I know that you’ve got trouble inside
So let it out dear
Now let me hear you
You don’t have to be afraid to cry
I woke up scared
And I said, baby
You were still asleep
So I rolled over
My heart was racing
You were still asleep
I hear your screams
In my dreams
And I don’t what it means
I hear your screams
In my dreams
And I don’t what it means

Great lyrics! The guitar driving this forward is perfectly mixed to serve the song, too.
I really liked this. :)

This rocks and has a pop hook with dark and humorous lyrics, which can be a little scary too. Interesting blend of elements going on all around. Cheers!

Very catchy, and I loved the production values here. The harmonies are great, and the arrangement of the instrumentation really moves the song forward. Nice job!

This thing chugs along really nicely, so bouncy and catchy. Those verses about the number 2 pencil are great. I really like the string hits in there. There's a lot of cool stuff going on in the background, sweet little bits of earcandy amidst the melee. Rock on! This is great
