Feb 2022 haiku challenge fawmtronica
#Haiku
Haiku challenge on the Forum.
Decided it was time for a Fawmtronica after all the pretty little acoustic songs I've written this year.
I managed to do this in less than an hour which is pretty amazing. I hadn't messed around with any of the samples free with my DAW and these all just kind of fell in well together. Stuck some guitar bits in and warbled over the top and hey presto, a song!
"Promise me something,
You're my little lunatic?
Happy Valentine's".
God, you're nothing but a lunatic,
But you're my little lunatic.

Fawmtronicatastic. This works so well. Love the rise and fall of your vocal. Great soundscape. Love how different this is to your acoustic stuff.
@tan482 Feb 2022
Oh I'm glad you experimented! This is fantastic! Amazing what you have done with just a few words. The mournfully falling vocals are just stunning.
@tomslatter Feb 2022
I came here because of the title, which is great. But the whole piece is great. Really nice vibe, some great sounds, especially in the vibe. The vocal line is cool too.
@fonte Feb 2022
Oooof jeez this is soooo good! That vocal line, love the way it drifts and bends. Part Tom Yorke part Sam Smith, but I mean this could totally be a pop song.
@jdschramm Feb 2022
Love this, wasn't sure what to think just looking at the lyrics but it all works really well.
@melaniepegge Feb 2022
I love your voice. This is luscious. Thanks for joining in with the Haiku challenge... I don't mind the cheat. The Haiku was your start point and this is where it arrived.
@gm7 Feb 2022
Wow man I love that extra production to your songs..it pushing it to another level. Airy swirly this gives you lots of room for the vocals. nice for an hour or so.
@richaaaay Feb 2022
Love this. The music works so well setting a smooooooth soundscape. Then your chill vocals over the top with those simple yet effective words. What more would you ever have to say. The acoustic guitar adds a nice dimension as well.
@owl Feb 2022
Yay, you’re playing with some fun production toys after all! Sounds great, really chill and floaty!
@willyviste Feb 2022
This was really cool! Great rythm, and background effects! The pulsing pad is really fitting. Really nice vocal-work!
@davidtaro Feb 2022
This is swooshy and swishy in all the right ways (that's why I never made it as a music journalist). The oscillating synths you've picked out are very effective - there, perhaps that's better. Your singing at the start was giving me real Radiohead vibes, that first section in particular is utterly gorgeous. And what a cool haiku, great response to the challenge, well done!
@timfatchen Feb 2022
This is quite brilliant!. Why is the folding-space sequence from Dune conjured up? It's nothing to do with the words, perhaps the spaced-out feel...anyway, definite download!
@zecoop Feb 2022
Wow… this is magical. Spacey and floaty, but insistent with that beat and the spoken parts. That soft sung melody is just crazy good. What an amazing thing to stumble into a song like this from messing about with some free samples. It all works so well together. I really loved this.
@twyllodrus Feb 2022
I´m usually not too much into the use of head voice for an entire song as it gets irritating quickly. Exceptions: everything Radiohead and this song. The deeper spoken parts give an interesting contrast.
@bandybum Feb 2022
Most impressive for less than an hours work - would make an amazing skirmish! Your guitar bits and vocals are delightful. Nice work, brother
@jayjay Feb 2022
Haiku cheat. Cheat I say lol
Sounds great though. Excused :)
@mikeb Feb 2022
Certainly different from your usual songs! Haunting vocal, with the descending melody and drop-noted last bit on each line of the first part of the lyric.
@spikedirection Feb 2022
Right. Best with me here, picture the scene. A cyberpunk future city, its night, its raining. Neon everywhere. In the middle of this brutalist sprawl, a Shinto Shrine, and playing over the shrine's tinny little PA speakers, this song.
I'd love to play this on the FAWM section of my show on XRP radio this week if u have your permission?
