So this was just too much fun! the most i have had this FAWM. It came from "Write a song as a fake band" challenge by @elesimo from the A is for ABBA - Fake bands I pinched it from ( i did ask) @semanski a group called the Jumping Junipers. I saw them as a rural pub band playing banjos guitars and harmonica etc Juniper being the ingredient in Gin i wrote a gin drinking song! It now stands as a fun live act even doffing the cap at @seemanski. It was a hoot
Its been hard for me all the time
Everyday and every night
I lay there at 4 am
Waiting for the light
Then got to get through the day
Keep on some face
Its alcohol that gets me there
Keeps me in the race
Lordy Lordy pour me another
Ain’t like its a sin
Tip the bottle right up
Pour another gin
Everyone has some kinda crutch
Whether without or within
Me i take the easy way
For me i chose straight Gin
I tried so oh so very hard
to break away be free
I tried to say no to alcohol
But its 40% stronger than me
Lordy Lordy pour me another
Ain’t like its a sin
Tip the bottle right up
Pour another gin
Lordy Lordy pour me another
Ain’t like its a sin
Tip the bottle right up
Pour another gin
Tip the bottle right up
Pour another gin

Ha ha ha! This is so much fun. We can always use another drinking song. :) Fantastic and rousing melody. I love the lively music too. Great choice of instruments for this. Love it!

This drinking song set in a bar gives me a sense of being in the crowd in a way that has been missing for a long while now. It’s interesting that the crowd might have the effect a laugh track does on TV comedies. It made a song that’s fun and joyous even more so. Also, I love a good dark story hidden in happy sounding music. I hope alcoholism is being managed by you and everyone you love.

So much fun in the overall concept. I think I will need to get on the Jumping Junipers' mailing list. This really does sound like a bar band (with an appropriate subject). I like "Its alcohol that gets me there/Keeps me in the race" and also "But its 40% stronger than me." Creative! #tit4tat

Serious subject, but that doesn't mean it can't be handled with humour and you do that really nicely here. I love your introduction (especially the crowd noise, which sounds to me like it's a gig in a men's prison for some reason!), the tune really rollicks along and there are some proper good lines in the lyrics - the "40% stronger than me" one is right on the money.

Cool intro. The banjo / guitar backing bounces along nicely and brings a live feel to the song that fits the mood perfectly. The harmonica solo is a really nice touch and well played. The slightly drunk lilt on the singing is cool aligned to the words. Cheers!
@stephenwordsmith Mar 2022
The intro made me smile really rather a lot. And the segue into the song itself was perfect - never once dropping the pretense of a live performance but muting the audience sufficiently so it wasn't a distraction. It was like being there, especially when the frontman appealed to the cheering crowd. I would have tried the Foster's, but it seemed like more of a gin occasion.
Lyrics are every bit as catchy as the instruments. '40% stronger than me' is solid gold, and a real pub-crowd pleaser. Cheers to you guys.

Oh I love this back story for your fake band!! really great 'fake live' sound to go with it too!! i think you nailed the Jumping Juniper's vibe - particularly love the harmonica for instrumental breaks!
@tukayandryan Mar 2022
Man this is so much fun! Love the variation in your styles @coolparadiso .Great fake band challenge! Live audience sounds are ace. Great energy. Such a great listen. Love the harmonica. #tit4tat
@siebass Mar 2022
Fun intro, with mc; really nice detail and the claps and crowd. Dig the harmonica and banjo. My favorite line in here was I tried to say no to alcohol but it's 40% stronger than me, ha ha.
@cleanshoes Feb 2022
How much fun is this! Nothing like a good drinking song. This plays like a blend between roots music and 50s rockabilly. Love the live audience sounds as well! You've created a whole world here. Count me as a Jumping Junipers fan!
@n24 Feb 2022
This intro is fantastic, I can completely imagine the scene you’ve painted. The energy in this track is fantastic, I love the banjo and harmonica, a really catchy melody too. The ‘Lordy lordy’ chorus is incredible fun. There are some absolutely inspired lyrics in here, my favourite hands down is ‘I tried to say no to alcohol. But its 40% stronger than me’ that is an incredible line. What a fun challenge! Superb stuff! #Tit4Tat
@kenficara Feb 2022
This was a lot of fun. I’d want to go to this bar and jam with these folks.
@davidtaro Feb 2022
Yay! I'm now officially a Jumping Junipers fan. What a great live they are. One of the best. The intro is just splendid, so funny and well observed. Then the song barrels along with such enthusiasm it's impossible not to be swept up in it. Oh lordy lordy indeed....
@humantornado Feb 2022
You nailed the sound for this! It sounds exactly like what you were going for. The atmospheric noises of the pub are just the perfect cherry on top of this. It really feels like a live recording of a pub band. #tit4tat3
@mandolinda Feb 2022
This is such a fun song, and yes, having the crowd noises and banter make it very lively. You have a great way of phrasing that is very pleasing to listen to. And again, the instrumental parts are all wonderful. Nice, fun listen #tit4tat2
@sapient Feb 2022
Nicely done - what great inspiration for a fun song :D
@elesimo Feb 2022
Oh boy, John! This is a-ma-zing! I can hear the fun in your voice! :-D
I loved the intro, the song, everything!
@kcc Feb 2022
This was a lot of fun! loved it all writing, playing, production!
I think I have a ticket stub from that show!! LoL!

@robynmackenzie Feb 2022
Well this was a blast! Love the rowdy crowd. What a great chorus!
@hoppiern Feb 2022
Fun song!! Love the ambience you created. And that harmonica solo is hot! Great job with this challenge!!
@rayboneor Feb 2022
That's pretty funny there at the outset. I love the clamoring of the crowd and the suave presentation of the band. The announcer sounds a lot like the lead singer of the JJ. This is a fun song. You are quite the one-man band, lordy lordy! This is a great line: it's 40% stronger than me
@owl Feb 2022
Ah I love the sound effects/intro, so cute :) great idea to write about gin! The instrumental has just the feel you were going for.
@williamjames Feb 2022
Very cool pub ambience. Also great souds on the instruments as well! Sounds like the perfect pub band!
@bandybum Feb 2022
Great fun! Cool intro and loving the almost Irish jig feeling. Well crafted and great tongue in cheek performance. Well done, Junipers :)
@mikeb Feb 2022
How much gin did you drink before writing this? LOL
You definitely captured the feel of playing in a drunk-filled barroom!
@jibbidy34 Feb 2022
Haha! Love those banjos and harmonica. The crowd in the background jollying this along was a touch of genius.
@nadine Feb 2022
If course a song from junipers has to be about gin. I didn't expect country and it works so well. What a cool performance. A classic. Cheers!
@wacha Feb 2022
This song is so much fun, and you nailed the bar ban feel. I love the intro, it adds a extra level of fun to the song. Really nice work on this!
@jayjay Feb 2022
Lol. That’s a lot of fun. Well imagined and performed.
Mine’s with tonic and a slice please :)
