Made some slight changes to Arthur's lyrics, mostly in the chorus and mostly because I wasn't sure how to sing what he wrote. Video recorded in The Rabbit Hole by The Pour Rabbits. Lead vocal was overdubbed for clarity. One take.
It´s a Long Way from Kentucky to Santa Fe
Arthur Rossi, Nathan Spears 2-14-22 FAWM
I love to be a cowboy,
But hey! what do you know, boy,
‘bout that, in your city with those city lights…?!
And sometimes even I start doubtin’,
but when I see the Blue Ridge Mountains
I know I did it right…
I love my herds of cattle,
some silly snakes that rattle
Can’t make me scared only because of that sound…
For cowboys riding horses,
The prairie can be quite remorseless
As are those happy hunting grounds…
(Chorus)
Yippie-ti-yi-yo, Yippie-ti-yi-yay,
I’m a long, long, long, long way
From Santa Fe…
Yodel-le-he-hoo, Yodel-le-he-hey,
It’s a long, long, long, long way
From Kentucky to Santa Fe…
We ride through awesome cities,
Kiss girls, sweet, honest, pretty,
However, we don’t stay, we’re just passing through…
Each week I work from day one to seven,
The vastness is my piece of heaven,
And we are what we do…
(Chorus)
Yippie ti yi yo, Yippie ti yi yay,
I’m a long, long, long, long way
From Santa Fe…
Yodel-le-he-hoo, Yodel-le-he-hey,
It’s a long, long, long, long way
From Kentucky to Santa Fe…

What great lyrics and so fun to have this performance by the Poor Rabbits. This is just a treat. Well done pulling that off in one day. Sounds great.

Oh what a treat to have a live video! The rhyming is great - cowboy - what do you know boy - doubtin' - mountain. The musical style really suits these lyrics. Love how the title line is song. Really nice instrumentation and just a wonderful melody. I really enjoyed listening!!

And we were worried about the bass not coming through. Not bad for only having done it that day. Kudos to all the band members.

This is just really together as a piece of writing. I can hear the chorus in my head when I read it, it's so simple and effective, great stuff!
