Feb 2022 pop piano bass harmonies
Why do I write these chord changes I can barely play on bass? Oh well, it was fun. I might actually develop this one more.
If she hasn’t kicked you out
But you’re sleeping on the couch
And your very soul is crying for some - mouth to mouth
Analyze the data in your trail of broken hearts
Find the salvageable parts
Unforgotten old acquaintances
Reconnect the cables
Gather up the sparks you can reanimate
A little bit of Monica, a whole lotta Rosie
Looks like Bela Lugosi
Frankenstein Valentine
Tied together with bits of twine
Frankenstein Valentine
Building a lover from primordial slime
This composite of your dreams
Is still a temperamental queen
And your handiwork is coming apart at the seams
Desire manifest, what can you do
When she’s the monster in you?.
Frankenstein Valentine
Tied together with bits of twine
Frankenstein Valentine
Building a lover from primordial slime
Frankenstein Valentine
Thought you found the fountain of youth
Frankenstein Valentine
Electric Ladyland electrocutes

I kept seeing this and meant to comment sooner. Not sure why I hadn’t but this another example of me learning from you. I appreciate the musicality going on here. And the writing/wordplay is clever and insightful. This is why I dig you sooo much.

This is a hoot. Playful, smart, immediately enjoyable with something to chew on later.
@dragondreams Mar 2022
This is so many kinds of fantastic. I love the whole rhythmic approach you've got going here. And the words are superb! :-D
@thedutchwidows Mar 2022
I love the concept and the lyrics are so well-written. The music is bouncy and light and undercuts what could otherwise be quite a dark tale. And those chorus vocals are so, so good. Really enjoyed this.
@driftwood1 Mar 2022
That's a title I couldn't resist. Awesome wordplay throughout here. I especially like "Analyze the data in your trail of broken hearts Find the salvageable parts." The layered vocal on the chorus is adds a cool effect too. Fun and catchy. #listeningskirmish

The chorus backing vocals are soooo great! This is making me smile - it's catchy and unique.
So many fun lines in this one!
@roy Feb 2022
I love you vocal swings on this, especially when the harmonies kick in. And your lyrics are always stellar; you've got a great knack for picking words that sound great together and yet also make sense. And the storyline is hilarious!
@chipwithrow Feb 2022
What a delightful song!
I love that piano bounce, and those charming vocals. Super cool and clever lyrics, too. Yes, you should keep this one around to develop - sounds fine as is, too.
@mikeskliar Feb 2022
strange- I remember listening to this a day or two ago and writing up a comment- somehow it vanished (or was never posted?) anyway, I love this, of course- the whole setup is perfect, the execution is really funky and fun, and there are so many lines that just detonate in the brain when ya think about them... 'electric ladyland electrocutes lol!'
@jsini Feb 2022
Some really fine rhymes. This is really fun to listen to. Enjoyed it!
@arthurrossi Feb 2022
Great lyrics with so many unique lines like "Analyze the data in your trail of broken hearts / Find the salvageable parts" and "Building a lover from primordial slime". Such a clever write and tastefully put to music! Lovely vocal delivery as well!
@miga Feb 2022
what a great song (the clever lyrics! as many have said) and I enjoyed the piano and backing vocals a great deal!
@elainedimasi Feb 2022
Oh so much fun and what a hook! Frankenstein Valentine and All Those Rhymes - *not* jealous that I didn't think of that! And then you made it have more "meaning" too, hot damb!
@gammafied Feb 2022
I like the subject matter. A nice jazzy tune. There are so many great phrases. Electric Ladyland electrocutes, primordial slime, she’s the monster in you?, etc. The echo on the chorus was a great decision.
@markg Feb 2022
Several people caught the Monica/Mambo connection--but what about AC?DC's Rosie, huh?
Putting it back together somewhat with cables and twine for a FrankenValentine--love it.
@ndavies Feb 2022
"A little bit of Monica" made me laugh out loud. Where's the rest of this musical??
@n24 Feb 2022
Really nice chord changes! As hard as they might be to crack on the bass, keep it up! They sound gorgeous. These lyrics are gold! They are so fun and also very clever! Absolutely adore 'Building a lover from primordial slime' in-fact, that chorus all-together is totally on point. Fantastic work, really catchy and really fun.
@standup Feb 2022
Love tying salvageable parts together with twine, and reanimating a valentine. You’re channeling Mambo No. 5, maybe… a little bit of Monica. And she’s the monster in you. A little scary.
Love the perky backing vocals.
@jayjay Feb 2022
Very smart and well put together. It sounds like the start of a musical to me lol. Great job.
@kenmattsson Feb 2022
The chorus! Love what you did with the chorus voices. Cool lyrics!
@stephenwordsmith Feb 2022
It's amazing what you can fit into two minutes - there's quite an amazing breadth of cultural references in here. The lyrics are very adroit, with long words and short lines coming together to tell a story quickly while dazzling with glib phrasing. The rhymes and assonance are impressive and lines like 'Analyze the data in your trail of broken hearts / find the salvageable parts' make me sit back and reassess my approach to songwriting.
@kahlo2013 Feb 2022
Ha! Love that chorus the twine and slime! The jaunty piano and the great melody make it so much fun to listen to!
@tamsnumber4 Feb 2022
Building a lover from primordial slime
That is an AWESOME line!!
Love the layered vocals in the chorus!! This is so clever and love the style of the melody, I enjoyed it, I found it electrifying!
