Feb 2022 exquisite-corpse lyrics-first
So, this was fun.
Lyrics First Corpse starring:
@stephenwordsmith, @andrea, @acapellastutter, @lovina, and @complexisssimple on the lyrics;
and @scubed, @bandybum, @dzdandcunfsd, @w1n, and @metalfoot on music.
@metalfoot had the privilege of stitching.
(yes, going for sparse acoustic at the end was a deliberate choice and NOT a cop out)

Water
With a modicum of tweaking, if you wish
Could become a fresh cucumber
Or a lethal jellyfish
From an article on Wiki
About any politics
You can get to God or Hitler
With just two discerning clicks
It seems
That you and I are always one false step away
From becoming something different
Worse or better, who can say?
For when all is said and done
We're not so different, you and I
[@andrea]
Stricken by a curse
And there’s a full moon on the rise
Transformation is coming
The beast wants to break through
I can feel the hunger growing
Can you feel it too
On this night we'll lose control
Run wild through the night
[@acapellastutter]
Every monster seeks the moon
But craves to end the fight
Never wanting to succumb
But it always ends the same
The humans hunt and kill our kind
And we have to turn again
We're never gonna be free
Until we take it
We're never gonna be free
Until we make it
Don't call us ugly, hateful names and expect us to stay nice
We won't stay quiet through the night
[@lovina]
Now after all that I’ve told you, how do you see me?
Am I what you expected, what you wanted me to be?
No I’m not perfect but I’m where I should be now
Just treat me like a person. I shouldn’t have to show you how.
We’re gonna rise– up– in solidarity
We’re gonna rise– up– until we can be free
Here we are. We’re here to stay.
Let us be who we are. It’s the only way… to be… free
to be free…
to be free…
to be… free…
[@complexissimple]
Free bees, free bees
Last week they were 90 cents a pop
Free bees
And to think the price has dropped
In these
Really very mercenary times
All the other vendors are committing crimes
Free bees
You know that you're wanting some of these
Save the Earth
Free the bees
Shave the whales
Feel the breeze
If you want 'em better hop
Easy bees for freezing
Freaking free

First "corpse" I've listened to, I enjoyed it and now understand better what it's all about. Cool mash-up of different parts that work well together.
@ballyhoot Feb 2022
This was a great corpse. I loved every segment. Great lyrics and great music. Some really good transitions, too. And the diversity was pretty interesting, starting with spoken-word, moving into hard rock and then overdriving into harder rock, and then down-shifting to acoustic. Great musical journey and great job, everybody!
@heliosonorous Feb 2022
This has a good build up of intensity and then a great ending with Metalfoot taking it back down.
@andrea Feb 2022
This was cool learning experience. I love how this oddly connected song is so much fun. Every piece is a blast of sweet imagination. Glad to be part of the team :) Thanks to all the teammates and Alex for stitching :)
@jibbidy34 Feb 2022
Oh such unexpected stitched glory! It’s hard to pick out my favourites here. This must have been so much fun because I can hear the fun in each segment!
@emkaydeebee Feb 2022
Wow, how different the two lyrics first corpses are from each other - wonderful how organically they grow into their own thing! Super effort all!
@bandybum Feb 2022
Really enjoyed this game. Fabulous with great lyrics setting the scene to set music to (almost like scoring for a movie, I imagine?)
Wild and adventurous journey ensues, mangling a mishmash of creativity into something rather beautiful.
Great work, team!
Hats off to organisers and stitchers
Right, what's the next project? :)
@downburst Feb 2022
Amazing! Super cool sonically--very adventurous but it never falls apart (which can happen). All the lyrics are great, really interesting and, I would think, sort of challenging to put to music. But it all works marvelously!
@scubed Feb 2022
This is glorious! What a lyrical and musical Tilt-a-Whirl! Wonderful job, everyone! And Alex, you are quite the talented tailor!
Stephen, you’re very kind. :-)
Alex, can each of us add the entire piece to our profiles?
@gm7 Feb 2022
This was a great song..a different flavor at every turn like a musically buffet!
That acoustic ending was a great juxtaposition of styles between @lovina and @ metalfoot
@lovina awesome section

What an absolute ride. I'm seriously impressed at the amount of effort you've all put in - both lyricists and performers. Surprisingly cohesive in its themes about treading the line between good and evil and simply wanting to be your free, authentic selves.
And, then, bees.
A surprising number of my dreams pan out like this. Creating a whole narrative and world of conflict, stage a war with blood and shouting and body count and tinnitus (thanks, @w1n), then suddenly collapsing into something altogether more harmless as my eyes move rapidly, trying to help my brain to make sense of something that *almost* does.
@scubed: Never anticipated the 'two discerning clicks' to be a key motif, but holy heck did you pull that off.
@andygetch Feb 2022
Oh wow this was quite a wild ride. Double the fun with a lyrics first corpse in just 14 days of FAWM. Great job everyone!
