People like to pretend that they're not the cause of their own problems and the situations they repeatedly find themselves in. They burn bridge after bridge as they move from friend group to friend group because they honestly believe that they aren't the problem.
Some older lyrics that didn't have choruses until yesterday as I was working through stuff trying to find existing unfinished pieces that I could work with. I'll be honest, the flow of new stuff isn't coming in like it has in past years for me. Fortunately I keep stuff sitting around for a LONG time before I decide to start over fresh. The bridge is me attempting to bring some lines a friend put in one of his songs as kind of a call out to him and his work. It doesn't work like want it to, but the idea that's there is sound so I just need to play around with more.
I’m walking backwards from your unearned self worth
You love the fool, you love your wondered sense of you
Ever and again you looked on like the vulture’s heir
You had a king, you had a dream, but you lost your ring
Strike a match and let it burn down
To the ground, all around
Light it up, and leave your bridges burned
Light it up, and leave your bridges burned
Floating lonely down a broken boulevard
You break the crowd, rushing your pace to stay in the race
It’s your best guess and not a lot of mercy to be dispensed
You come undone, it never begun, never one for the long run
Strike a match and burn it down
Now burn all the ashes
Light it up, and leave your bridges burned
Light it up, and leave your bridges burned
Strike that match and take your turn
Light it up, and leave your bridges burned
You never learn
From the bridges that you burn
Now face your destiny
With nothing in return
Light it up, and leave your bridges burned
Light it up, and leave your bridges burned
Light it up, and leave your bridges burned
Light it up, and leave your bridges burned
Strike that match and take your turn
Light it up, and leave your bridges burned

Big fan of songs about burning bridges. Great song with a big chorus. I could see this song working in a number of styles, too.

Strong chorus, well crafted song with a passionate delivery. Nice work, brother. Keep them coming :)
