I heard this on NPR, as I tend to do. Then I looked it up...

Grandma’s Fudge
Mike Delaney, FAWM22-4
Grandma Kay loved to laugh
And give fudge to any needing a lift
So many family gatherings
Her fudge was a welcome gift
But the recipe was her secret
She never gave it out
You could prod or beg
It wouldn’t help to whine or shout
Chorus:
Two squares of chocolate; Two tablespoons of butter
Melt on low heat; Stir in a cup of milk
Bring to a boil; Add three cups of sugar
(It’s gotta be real sweet)
A teaspoon of vanilla; A pinch of salt
Cook to softball stage; Pour onto a marble slab
Cool and beat and eat
There was something about her fudge
Ours never came out the same
Maybe it was some secret thing
Maybe an add-in she wouldn’t name
The recipe was hers alone
No matter how much everyone raved
She’d tell any who’d ask
That she’d take her secret to her grave
Chorus
Now Grandma Kay is gone
And her secret was revealed
Who knew how it would happen
On a sunny cemetery field
When we arrived for her burial
Her headstone was covered with a drape
At the moment it was pulled aside
We saw the engraved recipe of Grandma Kay
Bridge:
Turns out the secret’s the marble slab
As Grandma’s headstone makes clear
It cools the fudge evenly and quick
Before crystals of sugar can appear
Chorus

also I love the "take her secret to the grave" phrase, because, of course, she DID take the recipe to the grave literally. (also the marble slab part . . .)

What a wonderful story -- of course you should turn it into a song. And it's perfect to have the actual recipe in the song! The one thing I wonder is whether you want to wait to get to the chorus until after the third verse -- because she didn't give it away until after she died, so you don't want to give it away right away/

Beautiful upbeat. We´ll surely try that recipe now
