Holding Me Now - Guitar and Vocals by Kathy Klopp
Written by Nancy Cunningham and Kathy Klopp
Holding Me Now is an optimistic reimagination of the situation in I Can't Make You Love Me.
Get to Yes is song number 4 on an album called Get to Yes of songs @kcflowers and I have been writing over the past year that Kathy is polishing and recording this month with posting them to FAWM as the inspiration to get it done.
You quit asking questions I’ll quit craving control
You’re holding me now, just keep holding me now
I don’t need tomorrow, but I need you tonight
Holding me now, just keep holding me now
You don’t have to worry you don’t have to explain
This won’t last forever, come whisper my name
Give up getting answers and quit making plans
I don’t need a promise just give me your hand
And Devil take tomorrow, let me have tonight
Oh, let’s not say that we’re sorry, and let tonight, let it be just right
You quit asking questions I’ll quit craving control
You’re holding me now, just keep holding me now
And I don’t need tomorrow, but I need you tonight
Holding me now, just keep holding me now
And when we’re making love. we’re making memories
I know what I’m doing, I’ve just gotta be free
We’re taking the fruit but leaving the tree
You know where we’re going, you know I’m gonna leave
And Devil take tomorrow, let me have tonight
Let’s not say that we’re sorry, and let tonight, let it be just right
Tonight won't last forever and no one is to blame
Don't tell me that you love me and I won't say the same
Wave away the future, wave away the future
Wave away the future, whisper my name
Whisper my name, whisper my name
Devil take tomorrow, let me have tonight
Let’s not say that we’re sorry, and let tonight, let it be just right
And you quit asking questions I’ll quit craving control
You’re holding me now, just keep holding me now
I don’t need tomorrow, but I need you tonight
To hold me now, just keep holding me now
Holding me now, holding me now, holding me now

This is one of the great themes of various forms art, the idea of just doing what feels right now. The song is right in that tone. That’s such a cool flip of the story from the original song. Both views are so relatable.

I like the guitar and the melody. And the “devil take tomorrow…”. Great line.

Yes I can hear the influence in the melody as well as the lyrics. Really great job on this. Great collaboration.

You couldn’t find a finer song to reimagine. Nice work on those lyrics.
