Steve: I say when life takes your trash cans and hides them, write a song about that actual true story event with a friend at FAWM that rocks.
ZeCoop: When I heard the sad true story of Steve's trash can (Police report... seriously?!?!) and heard him ponder whether there was a Trash Can Black Market somewhere, I knew that it HAD to be a song. I did my best to play some trashy energy on my drums and then added some more trashy groove with my bass... I am SO glad that Steve could use it to channel a little of the frustration into such a fun song!
pre
some-one took my
chorus
black market trash magic
black market trash magic
black market trash magic
black market trash magic
v1
monday night, you know what that means
everybody here take out the black and greens
roll the blue can too, that’s the recycling
yeah everybody here knows what that means
v2
it’s tuesday know, and my blue cans gone
call the trash company, they said call the cops
i said, are you crazy? they said yes we are
so i called the cops and they sent a car but
i apologized to the cop that came
this is a waste of time
it’s a stupid game
yeah and the hardest thing about this song
it’s a true true story
‘bout a blue can that’s gone
@leepat Mar 2022
blood sugar baby trash magic :)
love the tom sound and the underwater fuzz of the guitars
i wish for bicycling to rhyme with recycling, or something.
ah, and there's a black monkey in there...
@cloudboy Feb 2022
Yes - chorus will be stuck in my head for days, I'm sure. Kick ass, dirty (appropriate!), and fun. Great humor, y'all.
@karlsburg25 Feb 2022
Firstly its nice to here you have tuesday as your bin days, second i also had mine stolen a few months back!!! turned out it was the trash company!!!! ooo the frustration. I love the originality of this which comes from the rather spiffing riff and chords. John reminds me a bit of Kaiser chiefs who i love by the way (another brit band ;-) ) . And omg that repetive repeating of the vocal at the end is literally a winner
@fuzzy Feb 2022
Really great percussion.
Such a catchy chorus.
This really rocks.
Love that ending.
Yeah, this whole thing is aces.
@charliecheney Feb 2022
Oh this is all ten kinds of the spectacular. Wonderful.
@vomvorton Feb 2022
Ooh I always love a trashy drum sound! This is really fun, excellent garage-rock energy and an inspired concept / story!
@danvaillancourt Feb 2022
ROCK! Watch off for those trash can thieves. Glad you got this awesome song out of the ridiculous song... the ending register change and effects are awesome. Really fun.
@mikeb Feb 2022
And somewhere there is a lost trash can filled with all those missing guitar picks ...
Fun collab with some trashy drums and dirty guitar work!
@santadharma Feb 2022
Holy shnizz this is cool and wow what a story…someone stole your trash cans??? There definitely is a black market with all our missing socks too. Love the concept, love the vibe, the lyrics. This is fantastic. As always drums are great. Excellent work, folks.
@sw1n3flu Feb 2022
what a song! those drums are massive!
Subject matter, riffs, vocals, lyrics. It's all great!
Rock on dudes :)
@ampersandman Feb 2022
The title is ace! Basic FAWM lesson: There’s always an opportunity for a song. I‘m getting an Eels vibe in this one, and in my book that‘s a good thing.
@chrismyth02 Feb 2022
This is fun punk energy - the bass groove is great; catchy. Awesome percussion, dig the vocal performance and the production. Good stuff!
@dock Feb 2022
Great power in this song! It captured my ear and would not let go!
@standup Feb 2022
Those crushed drums are magic. Everything, grinding bass, super-present guitar.
The police are looking for an unmarked blue recycling can...
Love the weird echo on the vocal at the end. I should investigate that.
@b3nut Feb 2022
Oh that dirty bass is ace, love the groove and the lyrics are a riot! I think the blue can was in the end sacrificed for a worthy cause! ;)
@lyricslinger Feb 2022
Very groovy cool song that brought a smile to my face. And so good that listening to it just once wasn't enough. :)
@nadine Feb 2022
Trash punk about trash. That's what the world needed. I love the sound this vocal layering and distortion is fuzztastic. Great rhythm and drums this rocks!
@gardeningangel1 Feb 2022
Why take the blue one? Is the black market attempting to go green?
So many questions... But hey, recycling this bizarre injustice into a very groovy song is some good magic!
@bethkille Feb 2022
Well at least your trash-can angst create a cool song! Love the vibe! Very Jet-ish.
@loveonamixtape Feb 2022
I am truly sorry about your trash can, but if it needed to get stolen for this song to come into existence, then I'm afraid to say that it's worth it! This is so fun -- LOVE the bass groove, and the vocals and vocal delivery work great -- the verse about the calling the cops is especially excellent.
@dugganensis Feb 2022
I'm getting an Eels-does-garage rock vibe. And hey, when you need a trash can, you gotta do what you gotta do.
@spazsquatch Feb 2022
Well that sucks, the situation, not the song. Song is great, but I'm kinda irrationally upset about your predicament.
I guess that's a testament to fantastic and relatable storytelling.
