Feb 2022 acoustic-one-take
It's not entirely true. But it's CLOSE ENOUGH!
It was actually the 16th of February.
But we were corresponding by email on the 14th.
Then we met for the first time at Clapham Common on the 16th.
On this day
You rescued me
Patched me up
And set me free
Just in time
At least for me
You came to rescue me
Now every day
I think of you
Remember how
I dreamed of you
But on this day
As I recall
You came to rescue me
Everyone knows of
A burden or two
Just as expected
That's what we do
But sometimes the burdens
Are too much to bear
People get broken
People get scared
But on this day
Now years ago
You showed me something
That meant I could know
How all the horrors
At last were done
You came to rescue me
Now every day
I look at you
Remember how
I'd longed for you
But on this day
As I recall
You came to rescue me

Your vocal phrasing is so deliberate and sparse, it really adds to the emotion of the piece. The tone of your piano sounds so mournful, it's perfect. I love sad songs, and this one is great, it's technically a celebration, but crafted with yearning, vulnerability and the sense of gingerly stepping out into the sunshine after too long in the dark. Beautiful.

Also, there's a typo in your title! (Very different meaning!)

Great work! Beautiful lyric and soulful delivery. The minimalist arrangement makes it feel so honest and personal and love the way it ends just on your voice and out. Great stuff!
