Another nostagic trip back to Tin Pan Alley. for this one, with a Western Swing type backing.
It's a corny as hell but oh well it is Valentines, and my wife likes it!
I tried to get an Al Bowley type sound to the vocals but didn't quite manage that.
I picked the reddest rose
She blooms from head to toes
Now everybody knows
I picked the reddest rose
In the midst of life's bouquet
You can easily lose your way
But I will always say
I picked the reddest rose
The springtime flowers
Yellows, pinks and blue
All need those April showers
Just like I need you
Now dafodils and tulips grow
Outside our bungalow
It seems so long ago
I picked the reddest rose

Brings you right back to a 50s musical. Small but perfectly formed.

Tin Pan Alley and perhaps a little early rock 'n' roll with the 1-6-4-5 progress, maybe? Impressed by the perfect rhymes throughout and love that final verse.

Good to see you mixing it up! Very classic cutesy song! Very catchy. Nice.

Nice write, and a sweet valentine. Enjoying the Western Swing feel: a fiddle would be a fun addition.

A lovely little tune and that guitar break is awesome.

Very sweet lyrics and vocals and nice guitar work. I can see why the wife loves it.
