@skibum1066 recorded this one here: https://fawm.org/songs/134699/
This started out as a song about a father and son on a fishing trip, but somehow Grandma took it over.
I'm hoping these lyrics will eventually be reunited with their Hootenanny parents.
The kid's back for Thanksgiving
Got a big genetics book
Lecturing to grandma
She's got her bird to cook
The pumpkin pie's not setting
The turkey's popping late
Granny waves her wooden spoon
She'll set her grandkid straight
There's nature and there's nurture
Foundations and furniture
DNA'll write stuff in your stars
Ancestors and actuaries
Figurin' your odds
Where you start
When you stop
What's it all mean
You just wait and see
There's nature and there's nurture
There's who you're meant to be
There's nature and there's nurture
and there's you
Could find some cure for cancer
Might hide out in some cave
If you raise a dozen donkeys
You name the first six Dave
There's nature and there's nurture
Foundations and furniture
DNA'll write stuff in your stars
Ancestors and actuaries
Figurin' your odds
Where you start
When you stop
What's it all mean
You just wait and see
There's nature and there's nurture
There's who you're meant to be
There's nature and there's nurture
and there's you
