Feb 2022 folky romantic valentine bisexuality fearless 6
This song was inspired by reading a recent Facebook page written by my nephew who has very recently come out as bisexual. A reminder that vulnerability is strength. Also written to the Day 6 Fearless Songwriter prompt, Never Would I have Imagined. The sentiment also reverberates with myself.
You said I was strong
Never ever would I have imagined that
The perseverance I show sometimes
You see as strength
And you say stay strong, don't wimp out on me
I identify more with the wimp
Giving into temptation, settling for less
And so I have found that to keep staying strong
I should let you in, let you in
And so I have found to stay where I belong
I should let you in, let you in, then let go
Others say I am a hopeless bachelor
I don't have room in my heart for you
And I may love women and I may love men
You say I don't have to choose
And you say stay strong , don't let others sway you
I identify with the ambivalence
Giving into my indecision, settling for less
But now I have found that to keep staying strong
I should let you in, let you in
And yes, I have found to stay where I belong
I should let you in, let you in, then let go
Let you in, let you in, then let go.

Gorgeous - top to bottom, in every way. Guitar, vocal, lyric... all amazing. The emotion you release in this song is palpable. Wonderfully open and welcoming, encouraging and strong. I have so many in my life, in my own family and countless friends that make this song resonate with me. Thank you for sharing it. :)

That gentle guitar moves things along so nicely. This rocks along like a lullaby. Let you in, then let go--that's a great sentiment and a great hook

This is so full of compassion and understanding. I love the gentle delivery. Really lovely sentiment. I like the chorus and change up between chorus and verse.

First of all, all love, peace, and joy to your nephew. You are 100% correct that vulnerability is strength. <3
This is beautiful. Man, that chorus has me teary-eyed. You are definitely singing from the heart.
Have you shared this with your nephew? You totally should. :)

So thoughtful. I really like the emotional melody and vocal. I really like how raw this feels, so nice to have someone love you enough to listen and write something so beautiful and understanding.
