This is the first of 13 songs I hope to record and upload tonight, all written in the past 11 days. This was easier to write than to learn how to play.
689- On the Road To Somewhere ©2022 Rob Lincoln (Capo 1) Nick Drake tuning (CGCFCE)
It was written in your mind
It was printed out in lies
That you could never be
The one who’s seen as wise
On the road to Somewhere
The dust got in your eyes
Looking up inside
You cannot reach his skies
It was paper aeroplane
Flying blindly to the ground
It was a hollow paper man
Trying not to make a sound
On the road to somewhere
You just got turned around
Kick the dirt outside
You know where you are bound
And it’s far away
Takes so many days
To a land where you’re not here
Mystery traveler in a coach
He begs you to come in
The road is muddy you’re afraid
The trip will soon begin
On the road to somewhere
You’re looking for a friend
The rain it sooths your thoughts
It’s getting near the end
And it’s far away
Takes so many days
To a land where you’re not here

I was thinking this had a Nick Drake sound. I didn’t know that was his tuning until just now. This is trippy and compelling. I liked it a lot!

It was a hollow paper man for sure. Nice moody mood with a groove.

OMG! I love this song. Very Moody Blues feel; very 60's-70's. I could listen to this many times over. Beautiful, unexpected melodic turns. Great guitar, great chords. You mastered keeping the vocals smooth. Nice job. I'm honored that you commented on my song favorably.

Really psychedelic chords. Sad and personal lyrics. Looks like this song took you somewhere really dark. I feel a little haunted by it, even as a listener.. It works on an acoustic guitar, but you have to be a little bit curious of how it would sound on an electric. Or some other string instrument. A sitar, maybe.

I love what you did in this tuning. I really like how you use the title line in your pre-chorus, and then change the additional lines throughout the song. Your chorus is very cool. Unexpected melodic turn but it totally fits and adds even more color. Love pathetic chords at the end that you used throughout. The lyrics are fabulous This is a great song!
