Written around the idea of respecting yourself, your home, your people. Don’t shit where you eat.
There is only one home
It is here, it is now
We are here to be kind
And to live without bounds
Call me alarmist
Call me a liar
If you shit where you eat
You will eat shit and die
We’ve built a machine
We will come to regret
It amplifies hate
And it makes us forget
The water is poisoned
The trees are ablaze
The air’s hard to breathe
You can’t see through the haze

You get right to the point with the chorus in a way that is biting and humorous. That logic is hard to argue with! It's nice the way the melody rises up and lingers on those high notes really emphasizing the last line "eat shit and die." I really like that little harmonica interlude, the lilting rhythm, and the overall somber mood. Nice work!

oh you alarmist folk - we just need to rake the forest floor to prevent those blazes and look at all the snow you're getting up north - and we can keep the shit out of our food by placing it in all those plastic bags lying about
this is a real good write with a gritty bite
oh and dung beetles seem to do ok

Don't call me Bettyarmist!

The lyrics make a strong point. "If you shit where you eat, you will eat shit and die" – ain't that the truth!
Kudos for assembling a video to go with it.

Wow. Way to go Jamie. Just go and call a spade an F$#@$ng shovel. This is so strong and so short and to the point. A folksinger's mic drop.
