Feb 2022 fawmtronica old-folkie-with-sampler maschine nasa mars experimental
Today I downloaded a bunch of sounds from the Mars Rover Perseverence and loaded them on to my Maschine MK2. Then I sliced, diced and improvised into something of a weird composition.
I got the samples from: https://www.nasa.gov/connect/sounds/index.html
I'm primarily an acoustic folkie but I've been monkeying with a Native instruments Maschine Controller for about 4 months. I have been using Melodics to help me learn basic finger drumming skills (and assist me with trying to understand that thing that drummers do). I am just now at the stage where I can load samples, craft loops and assemble them into something resembling a song. I am going to try do a sample based something every day this FAWM. They are not polished productions but my path to adding these modern tools to my box of crayons. If anyone wishes to expand on these sketches, add lyrics, etc.., drop me a line and I can hook you up with Maschine files (and maybe midi if I learn how to export those).
Nope-- if you hear some let me know and we can collab.

Cool otherworldly sonicscape! As I'm listening to this, I'm imagining stepping into a teleporter and experiencing reality torn and twisted around me as I'm transported instantaneously into another location.

So cooool. I may have words for this.
@wylddandelyon Mine, too! She was in my lap and nearly jumped out.

Fascinating - both the process and what you came up with! Some of it sounds like otherworldly insects and creatures scurrying.
And - thanks for one of the best comments ever on my friends song!

This one made my cat sit up and pay attention!
I love the rovers, and think it's great to add to your crayon box.
