It's just an old fashioned love song. (With a twist.)
She could've been the one who did not get away
I might’ve even taken some vows in her honor
If we we hadn’t gone on our separate ways
Or she asked
We could've seen the years of fidelity wanin’
'Til we fooled around with some friends on the sly
Maybe even shared some VD from profanin’
Now and past
What could’ve been?
What could’ve been?
We could've made a family to mess with our minds
Had a couple kids for a write off on taxes
'Til they hit their teens and just left us behind
As outcasts
And finally the messy divorce circumstance
With lawyers who would trade in the kids for some gravy
In the end I’d risk it all, had I the chance
At long last
What could’ve been?
What could’ve been?
She could've been the one who did not get away

This sounds really polished. Loved the keyboard work and your choices for the singing. It's a good idea for a song too -- what could've been... both the good and the bad.

The lyrics are incredibly witty--I laughed out loud at several of the lines. Particularly 'Til they hit their teens and just left us behind
As outcasts--haha! Nice flow and arrangement. Enjoyed the percussion.
