FAWM #8.
Trying to enjoy the process.
Here is my first country song in a long while.
Arrived from a free write - stream of conscious that I just stuck a chorus into. Maybe new-age-country. Bound to be a big hit here on Vancouver island. :-)
After thinking about its probably a bit about feeling better from leaving behind the booze and learning to meditate.
I was living life like looking through a dirty window
the storm came, the rains washed it clean
could a lost my house, my mind, everything
I'm lucky, oh lucky, lucky to be.
I feel like I'm dreaming, walking tall awake
if you know what I mean, you've been there too buddy.
Watching the clouds and singing to the sky
I'm lucky, oh lucky, lucky to be.
You paint a picture of your mind with a broken brush
not sure if you like it, into the fire they go
build a ladder through the canopy
try to see where the birds are free
lucky, oh lucky, lucky to be.
you plant a seed out back,
forget where it is, draw a map
you trust your compass
like you trust the source of everything
and there's a fire in your belly
in the jungle of your soul
I'm lucky, oh lucky, lucky to be.
You try to kick it up
warm your heart, melt your knots
from year of digging up
the love that you know, lets face it
will leave you with a window in your soul
when it goes
but it won't be dirty, it won't be dirty.

This has a really nice soothing down-home feel. It's an old-time folk song feel that I love. I also like this message of gratitude just for being alive still.

this is great too! probably a universal feeling especially after the last couple of years.
