This song started life as a riff my wife was playing on bass. We then worked it up into a song - it started life as a weird yelpy Talking Heads type song, and then seemed to turn into some lofi 90s indie..
Wife mostly wrote the lyrics, and also played bass on this. We tried to make the lyrics as abstract and nonsensical as possible as I in particular have a tendency towards writing lengthy narratives. I think we've succeeded in that sense at least..
Come here, watch the clock
Have you noticed the small hands stopped?
Grandmother's footsteps say 'Let's go'
Leaving tracks in the ice and snow
You won't be welcomed back
You won't be welcomed back
Look through the window
At the smoke below
Have you ever wondered if they want to scream
Grandmother's footsteps say 'Let's go'
leaving tracks in the ice and snow
You won't be welcome back
Throw a dart at the map
Spit in the wishing well
Collect your ticket straight to hell
Have you ever wondered what they mean
Have you ever wondered if they want to scream
Grandmother's footsteps say 'Let's go'
Leaving tracks in the ice and snow
You won't be welcomed back
Throw a dart at the map

Fast pace and concise song--a good combination. Great driving sound and tempo

Fun groove and the slightly phlegmatic vocals fit the style perfectly. I also dig the lo-fi approach to the sound. This one has this kind of a hypnotic feel.
