Nancy Gunderson's words, inspiring as always. I added some guitar and spoke the words.

Weather Report
The folks on the airplanes
The folks inside the stores
The folks on the TV news
The folks inside these walls —
Are they all so irritating
or maybe it’s just me?
The days are short
the months are long
There’s a divot in the floor
from all that pivoting.
We all have divots in the floor
from all that pivoting
All I could bear
to watch on TV
was our daily weather report
The wisdom that came
from our meteorologist
appeared on the screen
in letters big and bold
“Lingering, blustery flakes” [Can riff on this line.]
It’s not you - it’s the weather!
It’s not me - it’s the weather!
And the weather always shifts.
It’s needless to dither
if you don’t like the weather
Just wait a little bit
‘cause the weather always shifts.
It’s not you - it’s the weather!
It’s not me - it’s the weather!
“Lingering, blustery flakes.” [music drifts away]

Great piece of folk/rap. Now there's a genre I could get into!
I don't listen to most RAP because I can't stand drum machines and basses dominating over vocals!

The lyrics are relatable and set up a story for the listener! That guitar is gorgeous!
@mikegtz Feb 2022
Pretty, nicely spoken and nicely played as well.

This is great, the spoken word with that guitar resonating in the background work a treat. I really liked the repetition, it really hammered it home.

This works so incredibly well as a spoken word song. Nancy's lyrics, as always, are terrific, and the guitar has just the right vibe. Love the repeated "lingering blustery flakes," and the not-so-vaguely cranky tone to the vocals. And about those divots in the floor from all that pivoting - yeah, I have a couple around my place, too : )

Oooo, I love this. Beautiful words, beautiful gentle guitar and beautifully spoken. Lovely, just lovely! So glad I stopped by to hear this.

This lyric has a great rhythm and flow, and the music creates resonance in the delivery. Wonderful collaboration!
@middlec Feb 2022
Love the spoken word! Have you thought about making the "it's not me...." lines sung instead of spoken? I think it'd be great to hear what you'd do if you tried that!
@tippyteapot Feb 2022
Amazing. Lingering blustery flakes is devine.

Lovely bed of guitars. The narrator's a solid observer. You've got a great voice for narration, and spoken word really suits this almost stream-of-consciousness lyric.
@driftwood1 Feb 2022
Lovely guitar. The changes flow nicely with the lyrical sections. A good lyric well voiced.
@sheslin Feb 2022
The guitar playing is gorgeous. I think maybe an alternate tuning? These lyrics are very well suited for a spoken word format, and your words sit beautifully atop that beautiful soundscape. Really well done collab.

I always read the lyric before listening. I read these and did not imagine spoken word, but really like the treatment and the beautiful guitar. Nice demo update and collab.

The spoken-word is really nice, letting the cadence of the words shine through. Steal string guitar has so much depth. The sentiment of being annoyed by the people you're crammed in with while sheltering from the storm, but knowing that annoyance will pass... double-entendre of 'lingering blustery flakes', the phrase itself lingering. A snapshot of the human experience. Excellent work, both of you!
