Rough recording but I wanted to get something up since I've missed a few days!
i'll take the high road tonight, i'll keep you guessing
i'll take that bi-coastal flight, it's time to check in
i'll pass over the town where you and i first fell in love
a hundred thousand years ago but when you see me pass above
i hope you think about coming back to me
i toss and turn in my sleep when i remember
you might have burned everything but i kept your letter
and if that's all i have of you, then i guess that will have to do
as i sit here wishing you'd come back to me
if it's only time and distance
couldn't i reverse my speed
and meet you back when you were here with me
the sights and sounds of the past come knocking
i guess my head is the house you've been haunting
and if that's all i have of you, then i guess that will have to do
as i sit here wishing you'd come back to me

This song could so easily be a hit - seriously. The way you use your voice is really gripping - you sound so abandoned but in control and the grit in your style adds layers of meaning to the song. The song itself has a fabulous melody, I heard the first phrase and paused it and i could still hear it in my head - very catchy, right off the bat. The lyrics are spot on, so universal and specific and they have a sense of movement and imagery in them that really kicks the song along. Fantastic.

I really like the melody and chord changes you put together here! The lo-fi quality also makes it sound like Guided by Voices.

I love the slight grit to your vocal delivery, it suits this so well. Loads of great lines here and the insistent acoustic strumming works really well. The middle-8-y section where the vocals go a little softer/higher is really good - I love "meet you back when you were here with me".
