DADGAD exercise, after watching the birds in the yard today. Bad day for the fingers.
The Cardinal in the Snow (February 13, 2022). (DADGAD)
The cardinal in the snow
He must be hungry, yet still he sits on his perch high up in the hedge
He surveys all below…
The feeder’s full, but yet he makes no move, his feathers flaming red
A minute passes…two…then three…….No other birds descend from tree
To feed from what is offered free……Yet still the cardinal waits.
The cardinal in the snow
Watches from the hedge as four sparrows finally arrive
He seems to somehow know
That he must chase away the others as they strive
He crashes in, they fly in fear…..Back to their tree, to quiver near
The same thing happens every year…..As the cardinal eats alone.
The cardinal in the snow
Thus sated, takes scarlet wing to air
And once again he’ll know
That his power and size trumps all that is fair
We are no different, you and I
Other than we cannot fly
We live to see the vanquished cry
We are all cardinals in the snow.

This a lovely poetic painting of the scene, your finger picking is spot on. Nice work and nice ironic feeling.

I love playing with that guitar tuning too ! I can definitely dig a folky american vibe here! Well done!
