Feb 2022 metal thrash-metal slayer week1
I like Slayer. and I cannot lie...
This might not really be a homage to Slayer, but it sort of is. I do have to admit that I was somewhat channeling them when I realised I only had 30 mins to write and record the vocals. Theirs is a deep well of silly quasi-religious imagery that's super easy to draw on.
Basically this song was a lot of fun to write and record, and it only took about an hour and three quarters from beginning to end.
Which probably says something nice about the purpose of FAWM :)
I'm giving myself this as a late entry to the Week 1 Challenge. Blood is a body part, right?
Legions of death
Stalking the plains
Burning all that they see
Heavenly failure
Sin on the rise
Angels now bending the knee
Archway of iron
Temple of hate
Innocence holding the key
Broken and torn
Souls never rest
Tormented for eternity
Blood
(unholy)
Blood
(bathed in)
Blood
(born in)
The blood of kings
Chaos unbound
As the clock strikes the hour
Red are the clouds overhead
Arise now the soldiers
Of shadow and doom
Born from the pyres of the dead
Gold is the throne
That the demons all seek
With fury all forging ahead
Black are thre hearts
Of the ones left behind
Prayers on their lips left unsaid
Blood
(unholy)
Blood
(bathed in)
Blood
(born in)
The blood of kings

Glory! \m/
This is seriously good stuff. The inflection on 'dead' in the line "Born from the pyres of the dead" is the sure touch of a master at work.

Yeah. Let's trash this joint!
Blood may not be counted as body part but in my mind i saw lots of cutted arms and heads flying around so it must be approved.
@juoppis Feb 2022
This is wonderful! I get the Slayer stuff but I really also get a lot of Dethklok vibes from this one, especially the double guitar harmonies at 2:30.
Lovely thrash, indeed!
@tunecat Feb 2022
Busy is not the word. Admire this greatly. Not sure if I can listen to the end. I am a sensitive soul!
@dasbinky Feb 2022
This is, in a word, TASTY.
Love the thrash riffery, and your solos are always lovely. Particularly the harmony bits.
I find it shocking you haven't written a song before that just features you yelling "BLOOD" in the chorus.
Thank you for my Sunday morning dose of Slayer.
@iwilleatyou Feb 2022
Have you ever done speed/thrash metal before?? I don't recall hearing you do it before and I must say this is pretty damn ace! Your vocals work really well for it and man...the instrumentation is spot on. Thanks for making it downloadable.
@ryuu Feb 2022
Blood totally counts as a body part in my book! That solo shreds - overall, classic sapient quality :)
@keithcuts Feb 2022
This is hard hitting great stuff
Delicious goodness
Solo is face melting
I was trying to sleep now I’m wide awake.
Thanks

Don't know why the watchlist doesn't seem to be working, but I found it now, no 14 that is. Congrats that man and another fine tune, this time with a singalong too. Good stuff!

I love the call and response chorus. The lyrics are all great here, that second verse is perfection. I was 100% a solo was about to happen but you sure made me wait with the build up, I was tense! Love this.
@nadine Feb 2022
30 minutes are you kidding me?! Yes I hear the Slayer influence in the riffs. But it's a hell lot of sapient. Your growls are on point. I'm so happy to understand them without reading the lyrics. *_* epic lyrics.
@devinhill Feb 2022
This is awesome, I love the 80's thrash style of metal and you nailed it so well here. Brutal riffs and sick solo. This doesn't just slap, this punches and it hurts so good lol
@bo0m3r31337 Feb 2022
The mix is so good!
@jeustan Feb 2022
It's rare that I find metal music of any variety that checks off ALL the boxes and when I do it is my favorite thing. Not because I'm a snob, not because I don't listen to metal either. To me it just seems to be a style full of specialties.
You present a lot to like here, Slayer fan or not. These lyrics rule. They just do. I can't get enough of the wriffs and the double kick patterns. Vocals are on point. Seriously great song, dude.
@sw1n3flu Feb 2022
BLOOOOOOOOOOD.
yeah dude, totally qualifies. This metal monster kicked my ass.
@chroes Feb 2022
Nahaha, I get what you mean with that quasi-religious imaginery! Some heavy metal bands really thrive on that, and it got its own appeal.
I really enjoyed your thrashing here, great job on the growling and I really enjoyed the rhythm guitar! (Any tips for beginners?) The short pauses in the growling at 1:46 are especially nice, great to break up the rhythmic pattern here.
