Big thanks to @crisp1 for the lyrics. You heard it as bluesy rock, so that's what I attempted :) It was a lot of fun to do and I hope you like the result.
Doug: Thanks, Andy. Glad you had as much fun on the music as I had on the lyrics. This is kick-ass rock!
Torn nylon stockings and old worn-out rocking chairs
I was born in the crosshairs of lives lost to time
I believe memory
Is greater than every
Treacherous mountain life makes us climb
Toy swords of tinfoil and gargoyle statuettes
I finger the frets of a tossed-out guitar
My mind amasses these
Hourglass memories
As if the past is some kind of scar
(C)
Lurching left and right
Searching through the night
Of the days gone by
I know one thing is true:
The tree of knowledge grew
Under a darkening sky
Carousel horses that fled from the source of pain
I’ve been forced to refrain from a focus on now
My mind holds colored stones
Relics and martyrs’ bones
I hope one day I’ll puzzle them out
(C)
Lurching left and right
Searching through the night
Of the days gone by
I know one thing is true:
The tree of knowledge grew
Under a darkening sky
(Instrumental bridge or solo)
(C)
Lurching left and right
Searching through the night
Of the days gone by
I know one thing is true:
The tree of knowledge grew
Under a darkening sky

Great blues/rock energy! I like your chord progression and the instrumental breaks. The vocals were a little hard to understand in this mix. Besides that, I'm totally banging my head to this. Thanks for sharing.

Oh yes. This presses all the buttons of what I loved as a young man. Great 70s sound and vaguely psychedelic lyrics. Super solos too.

I love me some bluesy rock, and this one rocks! Great crunchy guitar up top and the solo is slammin'! Lyrics are great, too.

Yeah those are some great lyrics by @crisp1 .
Clearly you were inspired! I usually try and whip out a metal song every year--but I don't think I'll make it this year. Besides--you really set the bar high with this one. Great riff--great arrangement!

Love that guitar riff on the instrumental parts! Great collaboration.

I love all the imagery here-it makes think of an outdoor thrift store I went to once that later burned down. The song works really well as blues rock!
