Now a great song by cheslain.
You’re springing forward
I’m falling back
You’re smooth as glass
I’m full of cracks
You’re waking up
As I go to sleep
I lurk in the shallows
You’re diving deep
One step, one block, one mile at a time
It’s hard to bring our paths in line
We keep hopin’ things’ll turn out fine
We’re not even close
You’re silver linings
I’m etched in black
I walk the edge
You pull me back
You dance in sunlight
I tramp the dark
The difference
Couldn’t be more stark
One step, one block, one mile at a time
It’s hard to bring our paths in line
We keep hopin’ things’ll turn out fine
We’re not even close
We’re not even close
(B)
We’ve seen enough movies to know how ours ends
(Optional instrumental break)
One step, one block, one mile at a time
It’s hard to bring our paths in line
We keep hopin’ things’ll turn out fine
We’re not even close
(2X)
Not even close
Not even close
Not even close

Favorite lines are: "You’re silver linings / I’m etched in black" and the last two lines of the chorus.

This is an interesting piece. In the beginning I heard it as a 40s style duet where they list their differences and then come together in the chorus. So it was a surprise when the chorus actually kept the gap going and the differences were instead evidence of a broken relationship. I had to go back and reimagine an entirely different approach to the music!

I'm hearing a total Talking Heads, Blondie 80's pop rock to this! Hope someone give's this the "treatment" Trust me, you don't want me even going there, but I can hear it! :0))))

It’s cute play on lyrics; I love the optional instrumental break notation remarked…
