@mahtowin : this is a poem about my first memory. I was 2 or 3 years old and it was one of the first warm days in spring. I stood in the middle of a flock of sheep. Their smell is still in my nose and I still can feel the warmth of the sun .... I think this memory is one reason for my strong relationship to animals.
Duke did all the work! Arrangement and mix - special thanks for treating my vocals so pure and soft and for staying patient about my idea of pureness in this song.
To me its our favorite track! To make a waltz is absolutely new for us. To be honest: I am in love with this song!
@dukemeyer:
The lines of Andrea's bass and my guitar merged this way at a practice session to "try something in three quarter time". We couldn't stop jamming this – as hypnotized. So we decided to elaborate it – without adding too much – into a FAWM sketch.
Gear:
Nöck (synth bells: Waldorf Blofeld), Blue Moon (bass: Ibanez SR300E), Auserwählte (guitar: Ibanez AZ226), Puk (git pocket amp: Fender Mustang Micro), Fiona (bodhran drum … played with paintbrush and thenar), Ashley (mike: Røde NT1), Tante Pust (mike preamp: Behringer Ultragain Pro), Wahlhall (delay/reverb on vocals: TC Electronic DRV250-DT), Molch (recording unit: Zoom R8), Micki (DAW for arrangement & mixdown: Acoustica Mixcraft Studio Pro 9).

SCHAFE
Sie trägt kleine weiße Schuhe
ein hellblaues zartes Sommerkleid
in ihrer Hand Löwenzahn
mit seinem goldenen Staub
die ersten Kniestrümpfe des Jahres
denn es ist warm
Endlich ist es soweit
In der Luft liegt ein Duft
nach frischer Erde, nach Süße
noch ganz zart, kaum wahrnehmbar –
so sanft, so schwebend
nach Leben
Leben in wollweißen Fellen
Sie greift sie mit ihrer Hand –
fest, warm und weich
zugleich
Sie schließt die Augen
und sie dreht sich,
sie dreht sich im Kreis …

==========================ENGLISH
SHEEP
She's wearing little white shoes
a light blue gently summer dress
dandelion in her hand
with its golden dust
the first knee socks of the year
because it's warm
there's a smell in the air
a smell of freshly earth, of sweetness
still very tender, hardly to notice
so soft, so pending
to life
life in woolen white fur –
she grabs them with her hand –
tight, warm and pillowy
at the same time
She closes her eyes
and turns in circles ...

Everybody loves a waltz. Why? it's the heartbeat of the universe. And absolutely right for this gentle spoken-word. (I still scratch sheep behind the ears when they're alongside me. pet sheep in childhood) The repeated and circling last couplet works very well to bring this not to a close but to a refolding back to memory. Applause!

What a lovely first memory. This feels wonderfully dream-like, warm, and safe. What a beautiful soundscape you both have created!

Das ist wunderschön geworden, ihr beiden. Ich hab nicht wirklich Worte dafür... ausser dass es ein Lied ist, das ich glaube, so wie es ist.

Such lush, warm, sunny words: wollweißen, Löwenzahn, goldenen Staub, weich/pillowy -- what a lovely first memory! Loving that continuous, sinewy, smooth guitar line throughout and the calm, smooth bass playing.

Maybe it's the title but this reminds me of Robert Wyatt -- simple but beautiful, and with surprisingly intricate stuff happening musically with that guitar line, and the bodhran at the end.

Ach du liebe Güte, ist das bezaubernd! Zärtlich, intensiv und liebevoll!

Wunderschön schwebend. Es lohnt sich sehr mit Kopfhörern zu genießen. Tolle Collaboration ihr zwei :*

So schön athmosphärisch erzählt.

The intro is very soothing. Lovely musicianship. Vocals sound very smooth. Great way to put a poem to music.
