Really not sure about this one.....open to suggestions on lyrics or structure. I feel like it's a pre chorus rather than a chorus but not sure where else to take it. It's taken me a while to try and finish this one.
During the pandemic I was working in a hospital and a gentleman there had lost his wife whilst in hospital, the day I watched him leave I couldn't even begin to imagine how he was feeling going home to a totally different situation. This song was written with him in mind....
Truth be told I love you
and I always will
Put no one above you,
high on your pedestal
You're the needle in the haystack
Sliver lining in that dark old cloud
Cross my heart, it's not goodbye
Time moves very slow now
I'm sure it once stood still
I'm not really sure how
How to climb this hill
To the world you were one person
But to me you were the whole dam world
It's 5am I'm home now
I keep looking towards the door
Don't feel much like home now
Can't feel you anymore
You're clothes are where you left them
How will I ever learn to live again?

Love the whole feel of this song, and the story behind it! The lift on “cross mr heart…” is excellent! Really enjoyed this, well done!

This is a really strong idea for a song and I like the lyrics very much. I agree with you though, it sounds to me like the "cross my heart..." bit is a prelude to a chorus waiting to be written. I'll have a think if you like.
