Needs music
From Johnny Walker To Just A Walker
Vaughan Ray Daniel
Chorus:
From Johnny Walker to just a walker
My party days are through
I stopped my drinking
‘Cause I got to thinking
How much I had to lose
No woman wants a damn old drunk
To have to cater to
From Johnny walker to just a walker
My party days are through
In my twenties I had plenty
Of wild times when I
Would stay out all night
Getting into bar fights
Drunk and very high
In my thirties Nothin could hurt me
I was indestructible
In my forties I was dorky
But drinking made me cool
Repeat chorus.
In my fifties I had to get me
Some replacement teeth
Science was linking
Smoking and drinking
To serious gum disease
In my sixties I dropped the whiskey
And thew the smokes away
I wish I’d done it sooner every day
Repeat chorus:
Bridge:
Now I’m feeling better than I’ve ever felt before
Running out of time
But still hoping I have more
Repeat chorus:

Never too late! I'd drink to that but it's already been said. Sometimes, a word in teh ear to one's younger self might be good if it were possible. Well put!

Nice write! I can see repeating the last chorus a number of times, each with different rhymes on "before" / "more" ( maybe "galore", "adore", "such a bore", "ignore", "rapport", .......)
My ear wanted to hear a more direct connection between the fights of the twenties and thirties and the replaced teeth of the fifties.

Great song. I’ll drink to that!

Thanks, Elaine. Most of it is fiction, but not all.

This is very relatable! I like how the details take a while to build up so it hits you finally what is really happening.
