I know what I am talking about
In days gone by
She caught my eye
Her figure quite exciting
Now when I take
My glasses off
I have to have good lighting
We used to hurry
Off to bed
To hold each other tightly
Now arthritis
Has set in
We touch each other lightly
In earlier days
We drank our wine
And toasted our fine union
Now we drink
Prune juice instead
Ready for 50th reunion
It’s not too bad to
Be real old
A lot can still be said
No matter what
The problems are
At least we’re still not dead

I like how you fluctuate between a young stanza and an old stanza. Good structure.

This is a tight and clever lyric. Got a laugh from me!

Says it all. But do you think we should be telling these universal truths to the youngsters here? Are they old enough not to run screaming, do you think?

Witty, delightful, and a poignant slice of life! Excellent rhymes - particularly that last one.
In my non-FAWM life, I am a personal trainer and yoga teacher, and more than half of my clients are 60-plus years old (oldest is 91!). They give me excellent, often wise, insight into aging.
I'm 56 myself - getting there. My daughter calls me an old man - affectionately, of course.

Tongue in cheek, but also 100% true. Love that last stanza! What genre do you hear with this one?
I wonder what the next song in the series would be... After they've both passed and are hanging out in heaven. Bet there'd be a whole lot of mischief!
