Once again, I’m out of order. This is the sixth song I wrote, and the sixth song I’m putting up. Wait a minute – I created a weird paradox by the 8th song being posted as the 5th, putting this one back in the right spot… No matter.
I’m trying to work on a lot of things about myself, but this song is mainly about how I am often waiting for something to happen until life is “good,” while missing what’s in front of me. I’m currently applying for jobs, so I’m hungry for that next thing, but I’m trying to be present and grateful for what’s in front of me. So yeah, that’s what I’m trying to do with this song.
Also, a break from tradition for me – this is straight-up iPhone demo, no DAW or production involved.
Chorus:
I am just waiting for a new season
Waiting for things to be good
But if I keep waiting, I’ll always be waiting
Caught between the could and the should
V1
Look at the robin, he’s still singing
Inspits of the snow and the ice
Even in dead of winter, days will get longer
Spring is coming look for the signs
(Chorus)
V2
Try to imagine red velvet curtains
Try to see what’s waiting in the wings
But there’s not use sulking while you’re waiting
Might as well have fun back stage
(Chorus)
V3
Moments are lovely when you’re really in them
Living in the here and the now
But when you’re not in them, moments are prisons
Something better someplace else
Final Chorus:
I am still waiting for a new season
But I’ll look for good things in front of me
Cause if I keep waiting, I’ll always be waiting
Where I find myself is where I will be
Where I am is where I’ll find myself
Where I find myself is where I will be

This has a James Taylor and Simon & Garfunkel simplicity and beauty to it. Chorus is beautifully written and sung. You're onto something. But still, living in the present, despite its obvious advantages, is no easy task. You reveal the struggles too. But don't lose sight, no doubt good things are already happening for you. And also - amazing iphone recording!

First things first: Love how that song starts! :)
This is a beautiful piece, hopeful and heartbroken at the same time. I usually don't enjoy folk, but this song has a crisp clearness and poetic truth that I can relate to. Thank you for sharing!

Oh that guitar picking pattern is sweet, and your melody weaves so nicely around it. Your warm vocals and nice phrasing let the lyrics really sing. This songs feels so authentic and about something most of us can relate to. “Where I find myself is where I will be” - such a great line! I really enjoyed your song.

This is really lovely. Really enjoy the lyric. Caught between the could and the should is a great image.
