Imaginary Constellations
Collections and configurations
Things they gathered will be left behind
They say you can’t take it
And if it doesnt give you joy
Let it start again somewhere else.
I’ll be sitting In a cabbage patch
Or a model car parking lot
Holding Salt and pepper shakers
And button jar
Reading danielle steeles
And the shiney copper sharpeners
Bells and chimes
And birdhouses galore.
And I’ll wish i had more
Time to hold
Time to talk
Time to ask
Time to walk
Time to spend with you.
When you are gone I will be missing
And probably wishing
We took care of some of this
I know we have loved
and said sorry for some
But it never seems enough
I hold on to the memories
Try to let go of painful things
It never does good to hold a grudge
We live and learn
But can’t quite return to the
Scene of the accidents

A nice tribute to someone who will soon be gone from your life - or saying goodbye to one's childhood (could be either!), the memories are attached to all those little things.

I’ve helped my Dad do some decluttering since my mom died, and these lyrics resonate so much with me. The flotsam that accumulates during a life is so unrepresentative of the person even though it can still bring so many associated memories. I really love this.
