Feb 2022 piano folkish instrumental improvisation one-shot solo-piano
Sometimes one has to. This folkish piano solo, appearing and created in one-shot at 2am 13 Feb 2022, is a throwback to a lot of my early writing and fiddling (ie 1998 to 2004) in its structure, motifs and technical spritz--though I didn't need the ibuprofen back then. And it just sort of...happened. Sometimes such things do. I seem to have no choice in the matter, just a conduit.

Really pretty. Starting with the full chords then the competing single note lines/arpeggios started the journey. There’s great swells and quiet parts throughout that take the listener with you. Then the quiet outro as we are brought back to real life.

Oh Tim, this is a gift for all whose soul needs some uplifting balm these days, and this certainly includes me! Such beauty! Your instrumental music often happens to carry my imagination to the landscapes of Devon in England where I once used to live. (I miss it!) And I am grateful that you make yourself available as such a wonderful conduit to the Muses ...

@timfatchen L o v e this. Your artistry at the piano is absolutely captivating.
@siasa Feb 2022
This is beautiful - I could well imagine it as part of a film score
@andygriff Feb 2022
Ah, a real piano player! This was an absolute pleasure to listen to. Great work. Can't quite believe this is a one-shot improv.

On JPF, a songwriting board I belong to, a movie music creator would post his pieces and we would have to tell him what kind of movie they reminded us of. When I closed my eyes, I imagined a meadow with little animals running around in early spring and a gentle rain begins and then it gets heavy and they are hiding under leaves and small streams and puddles form in the meadow and they scramble for dry ground and when it slowly stops, they enjoy the water and then flowers start to grow............it was a magical thought, it is what I found inside your music.

Wow! Very impressive for a one-shot improv. Smooth and without one glitch (that I could hear). For an improv, especially such an intricate one, that's like getting a hole-in-one, or a perfect 300 in bowling! Really lovely experience. Thank you!

Lovely, lovely, lovely!
@valeriecox Feb 2022
That just draws me right me. It's so inviting and warm. You must just lose yourself in it, because listening to you play, it has all this personality. You're really channeling this amazing style and energy. It's great.

Or summer... just saw the title! Feels warmer than it is right now anyway, and that is a welcome thought.
@melaniepegge Feb 2022
This is a really pretty piece. Feels like Spring.
@tseaver Feb 2022
Lovely write -- feels like you are pouring out yourself for the listener here.
I've certainly been overtaken, more than once, by a song which wouldn't be stilled.

With the changes within it, I could imagine this played at an advanced ballroom dance competition to show off the strengths of the dancers in interpreting your sometimes contemplative and sometimes playful piece. I really love this. It can take us so many places if we just close our eyes and listen. Masterful!
@kenmattsson Feb 2022
I love all the surprise chords that seem to jump out at you, as well and the flowing arpeggiated sections. It's just lovely to have all of this wash over me, and then the dance section comes in. Such a wonderful journey of a piece.
@metalfoot Feb 2022
Such a pretty and contemplative feeling piece with a dancelike feel to it.
@darcistrutt Feb 2022
Lovely. Smooth and majestic. Makes me close my eyes. At least when I'm not typing. The 2-minute mark is quite playful. You have a sensitive touch.
@lyricslinger Feb 2022
Beautiful piano. The kind of music that is great to day dream to while out walking
@blindkiwi Feb 2022
Utterly entrancing Tim. I enjoyed that from start to finish!
@musicsongwriter Feb 2022
Beautiful composition and playing, very creative. Performed with a true spirit.
@headfirstonly Feb 2022
I'm sitting here sailing along on those lovely waves of arpeggios. And then the middle section is joyfully jaunty.
That idea of being a conduit holds water for me too, although the occasions where something comes through seemingly without conscious direction or effort are few and far between for me.
