Feb 2022 soundscape field-recordings
An album I really liked last year was The Hill, The Light, The Ghost by Haiku Salut. It's built around field recordings of various places and I knew I wanted to try something similar, so I've been recording a few things on my phone recently while walking home from work.
Earlier, I recorded a couple of little pieces of piano, as a seed of a new song. Then I wondered what they'd sound like with the field recordings.
Turns out they sounded like something I could mold into a little experimental piece in about an hour! Ta da!

Wow I love the beginning part where with the children playing. I thought it was a nostalgic soundscape, but then it gives off the mood of something going really wrong as the track progresses? A fight or a war happening after? It made me worried for the kids we hear in the beginning. What a cool composition and storytelling using field recordings.

I really like this sound scape, your choice of couplets in the opening is lovely. I’m getting overtones of bleak cop drama, with a soupçon of domestic violence. Really nice write- and great use of some recordings

Really interesting mood, not warm enough to tip into nostalgia but not cold or alienating either. Feels a bit like that waking from a dream moment where you've lost your bearings.

Very evocative and the ghost piano sounds amazing, how did you get that sound on it? I love field recordings of other places and the dreamy music you added on it works perfectly.

This is evocative of many things I don't miss about the UK; traffic, shitty weather and children. The soundscape aspect of it, especially when manipulated and cut-up has a real Burial feel about it. The overlayed warped piano sound is cool.

Oh that's really really good. Your found footage recordings sound great, really smoothly stitched together with just the right amount of processing. Love the rev/delay on "Carla?" especially. And that hesitant acoustic piano - there's something haunted about it.
