Thanks to @berni1954 for the prompt "Childhood Memories."
This one took longer, but I got into it starting with the garden hose my dad gifted me.
That legendary photo was taken
during my grandparents anniversary
one sock up, One sock down
holding a garden hose
on the end of this hose
was a trumpet mouthpiece
apparently I played it then
with some kind of ease
moved onto shells
and then didjeridu
but when I got to the trumpet
my other sock dropped too
You might think this started
some kind of trend
Are we all musicians here?
how will this end?
I quit them and decided
to play piano
my brother was playing it
so I tried it too
but I found sadness with the keys
just like with buzzing lips
maybe its because my parent’s played them,
so it wasn’t in the chips
Then one day at school
they came and offered cello
I said yeah that thing sounds great
that’s sure be more mellow
But I was the only one signed up to play
so there would be no class on Wednesday
so I recruited friends and we became a class of eight
and so began my most notable trait
I learned the cello
got college degrees
and after all that in my spare time
collected a bass, a guitar and ukuleles
my socks are pulled up
it started with this beginning
these layers of connection
are a lifetime in the making,
we don’t know
where our path will take us
just collect and decide
let your life be your song
right here
right here

I am enjoying this story and it’s soundtrack immensely.

This feels like an elaborate stream-of-sonsciousness. I like how first those eerie string-choir-like sounds build the background, and then one after the other instruments start to drop in: the piano, the cello, and all the other instruments you play! It's such a cute idea to let the music follow the words and your life's story!

This is a fascinating song! The spoken/sung lyrics are quite interesting as you relate the story! I love how the socks had a recurring role throughout the song! Love how the instruments drop in to lift the song! Oh and thanks for correctly pronouncing ukulele!

What an idiosyncratic approach to the prompt! You grabbed me from the visualisation of that photo in the first verse and then took me on a musical voyage through your instruments and your biography. This ticked all the boxes for a childhood memories song alright! Ben fet! (as we'd say here in Catalunya).
A very impressive piece of poetry and music indeed.
INSERT HERE SEVERAL APPLAUSE SMILEYS. :-)

How cool to add the piano in when this line is sung "but I found sadness with the keys" (what a great line) and then adding in strings when you sing about the cello - and on and on - I love that you layered all these instruments in one at a time as you sung about them. Great job!

Now I understand why my socks keep falling down. Thank you for the insight! ;)

A lovely song idea and skilfully brought to life. Really good lyrics as well. I like the progression of the music in this song. Very good vocal delivery!
