Balzac, sounds a bit like muzak
It’s striking how much time is wasted on this line
“Your custom is important, (We’ll) try not to keep you long.
We’ll place you in a short queue, it’s only five miles long.”
Number, select the perfect one.
Try not to choose a wrong’un, or you’ll have to start again
Gogo and Didi never had to wait this long
No formal resolution, but time to write this song.
Please don’t cut me off now, I’m nearly at the front.
I’ve held for several hours and I’ve demons to confront.

We're sorry
We're sorry
I don't know what I was thinking
I don't know what you were thinking
but now
We're sorry
We're sorry
And no sorrier folks have ever been seen
We're sorry
We're sorry
(@vomvorton)
no excuses, no apologies (sorry)
we can't blame this on psychology (worry)
because we all think the same in the dark
first we look for the switch
and then we find the spark
yeah we all think the same in the dark
yeah we all think the same in the dark
yeah we all think the same in the dark
yeah we all think the same in the dark
@shortdan Feb 2022
I don't think I've ever listened to one of these before - not that I remember anyway. Love the concept! Particularly like the @nateger section. @vomvorton - you've done a great job of merging from the previous section so seamlessly - really nice. Lovely stuff.
@frenchcricket Feb 2022
This is great! The switch up from nateger to the thedutchwidows was a complete left turn and I loved it. And meanwhile vomvorton's transition was soooo smooth — love that repeated refrain. Really excellent work all :)
@sbs2018 Feb 2022
These are so fun! Love the change-ups. Oh yeah! Dancing with my coffee!
@thedutchwidows Feb 2022
I love the twists and turns of this, and the apologetic theme that runs through the last two and a bit pieces is awesome. Those vocal harmonies in @metalfoot and @vomvorton's pieces are delicious.
Great job @vomvorton pulling this together into such a cohesive whole. I think these corpses might be my favourite thing.
@owl Feb 2022
This is fun! I’ve just gotten back from a long day out and about and don’t have the energy to add individual comments just now but I did want to say it’s full of great stuff and I enjoyed it!
@sph Feb 2022
I'm a bit too tired for exhaustive laudations. But I enjoyed this tour a lot!
@jamkar Feb 2022
What a ride! Diverse yet stitched tightly.
Lots of new sounds from seasoned FAWMers.
@headfirstonly Feb 2022
I'm amazed when a corpse actually ends up telling a coherent story like this one does. It's a remarkable achievement given the wild selection of genres it addresses. Splendid work all round, folks.
But particular kudos should go to @thedutchwidows for surreptitiously hiding a cowbell in the middle of this.
@spirulence Feb 2022
Wow, this is wild - Each part executed so earnestly and deeply in different directions. Kudos to the participants, I love them all.
@kahlo2013
social-justice power pop FTW!
@nateger
Street Fighter House! a new genre
@thedutchwidows
"couldn't care less about matters of terrible importance" elevated into a dynamic artform!
@metalfoot
Such an abrupt change, setting us up for the finale! Great play. You're good at this game!
@vomvorton
I'd hold up my light switch and move to the rhythm, but it doesn't have a light on it and wouldn't look impressive in a stadium at night!
@ballyhoot Feb 2022
Always fascinated by the diverse offerings that an exquisite corpse provides. Some good stitching here. Enjoyed the listen. Thanks for participating everyone!!
@thelowestbitter Feb 2022
Wow so much variation here and a great job stitching it all together. Particularly liked nateger's big synthy section, and those amazing harmony "sorry" and "worry" vocals bridging metalfoot and vomvorton's sections. But it's all great!
@carleybaer Feb 2022
I love how it starts off in 6/8 and then every subsequent portion is seamlessly stitched on. I like the universal note that it ends on. Great work all around!
@nadine Feb 2022
The stiches are all fine. Your corpse has so many genre but I like how most sounds work well together. And the lyrics make sense. Somehow.
@kahlo2013 Feb 2022
Wow, the sections are so different but you pulled them together well with the stitching. I started with Baltimore and historic and lingering inner city realities as my prompt since that was the name of this corpse… and thus I like how it ended with ‘we’re all the same in the dark’ line - it seems very fitting! I appreciate all the unique and cool contributions.
@chriddof Feb 2022
There's some quite sudden changes of tone throughout most of the track, but I don't mind that sort of thing too much - in fact I've written entire solo songs that have that element! In any case, they're covered up quite well by the "stitching". Bit of a Abbey Road medley thing going on there, in a weird way. I like Vom's finale and thedutchwidows rock bit.
@metalfoot Feb 2022
Seeing this come to life makes me unreasonably excited. So AWESOME! Talk about shifting mood and tone as the song rolls along. I am AMAZED by how you made it work, @vomvorton. This is great.
