Mike:
Guitars and all that good stuff by @tinear; I just sang a bit and added a few verses. Cheers, Mr Ear!
Tin Ear: Mike's being his usual modest self. It's always a pleasure to do anything with the marvellous Mr Debenham - even a simple three chord ditty like this.
Good excuse to give my unused resonator a dust off.
We're always calling people names
Why can’t we treat everyone the same
There’s always someone else to blame
nobody cares
Hear the politicians sermonise
While they spin the same old lies
to an audience of sighs
nobody cares
Well i suppose there must be reasons why it always has to be this way
Is there something in our nature, a destiny we can't escape?
We fill our lives with all this stuff
But it never quite seems enough
while others are sleeping rough
nobody cares
Why do we only see the skin
And not the truth that lies within?
How come the bankers always win?
nobody cares
We put billionaires in space
But we can't feed the human race
Now we’re burning down the place
nobody cares
Is it really true that it always has to be this way
Maybe there’s a chance, that we won’t repeat the same mistakes
Why aren't we cleaning up our mess
We think the well is bottomless
Why doesn’t anyone protest
nobody cares

ah, you two, always so polite in pointing fingers.
the bankers and billionaires are my favourite.
@hanley Mar 2022
There's something subtly optimistic about this... certainly not in the lyrics, but the cheery toe tapping backing gets me feeling like everything in the world will be okay. You tricked me didn't you? Love your two vocals alternating verses, like long lost brothers. Great collab chaps!
@miltz Feb 2022
Solid work.
Also, no, it isn't true.
@sherrycanary Feb 2022
Great lyrics.Sadly too true
Nice picking and love the resonator sound.
Fab collab
With you 2, how could it be otherwise!
@shortdan Feb 2022
Hmmm... I suspected something before but now I'm feeling a lot more certain! Annoyed it's taken me this long to realise *facepalm emoji* Anyhow, this is really lovely. Beautiful guitar and delicate vocal work throughout. Excellent.
Just having a second listen and thought I'd add that I'm getting slight Paul Simon vibes from this at times.
@theawkwardsleep Feb 2022
great little ditty! very catchy bits. i love how the lyrics are such a break from the happy upbeat vibes of the instrumentation.
@deena Feb 2022
This is so wonderful! I love hearing you two sing together. Great guitars and vibe and groove and lyrics. EVERYTHING! Now I'm going to listen again!
@tan482 Feb 2022
This is such a great collab! You guys have done so much with just 3 chords!
The guitars and percussion are just perfect. The vocals are fantastic too. Love the juxtaposition of the dancey feel to the song and the big issues it brings to light.
@anthonykapfer666 Feb 2022
this is so fun and catchy. it's got a little bit of a beatles vibe almost. great work
@paulh1237 Feb 2022
The "nobody cares" repeating motif really works, along with the rhyming scheme. The fingerpicking is spot on.
@sailingmagpie Feb 2022
So jaunty and bittersweet. The guitars sounds great and the arrangement really let's them shine. The lyrics are an excellent indictment of the ills of the world, full to the brim with great lines. Superb work from you both.
@feb21sundari Feb 2022
Wonderful moving piece of music. Great composition.
@iwilleatyou Feb 2022
Oh for fucks sake. Get a room you two.
@adforperu Feb 2022
WAIT A GODDAMN MINUTE. I would know that voice anywhere! A feel foot-stomper this one, chaps. A slight surf vibe jumping out of those guitars, and those "nobody cares" vocals are a real low-key hook.
@jessi14 Feb 2022
A great protest song, I hear some criticism on capitalist society. About time we rise up and dance a revolution!
@susyblue Feb 2022
Catchy bittersweetness right here, bit of meloncholy with a skip in it's step.... kinda perfectly matches the apathy of our age. I wanna cry but am too busy tapping my toes along to this ... thank-you?
Bloody gorgeous work!
@itneverhappened Feb 2022
Great collab, Seems like a perfect match of musical ideas. I especially like the small intonation shifts in the vocals and the super effective chorus.
@frey Feb 2022
So catchy! Super enjoyable
@jdschramm Feb 2022
Fingerpicking is perfect, puts me in mind of Fleetwood Mac or Rusted Root. Vocals works perfectly with music. Lovely little number, very clean! I like the repeated nobody cares line.
@owl Feb 2022
What a lovely, catchy, well-performed song! Full of cynical rage, delivered so sweetly. I love the mix and arrangement.
@coolparadiso Feb 2022
Neither of yours is Tin i rather think, unless my ears are on the blink. Very tight song! Nice little solo. Even when you go low Great message!
@kahlo2013 Feb 2022
This flows so smoothly and beautifully! The guitars are fine and the melody is perfect for the lyric and I like that little lift on the vocals. The repetition of the hook works so effectively. Wonderful and timely important message too. Brilliant collaboration!
@nadine Feb 2022
I like songs that sound so super easy but are really hard to nail. This fingerpicking is so clean and the production is super neat. The vocals fit right in. A protest song with an uplifting beat. Interesting contrast of lyrics and music.
@helenseviltwin Feb 2022
Musically, so pretty, and lyrically, a little darker, but still hopeful. Nicely done, both.
@kenmattsson Feb 2022
Great beat that keeps you moving yet isn't driving. Great vocals and great little additions (high hat! shakers!) that keeps it interesting. Wonderful collab!
@thelowestbitter Feb 2022
This is great, that fingerpicking sounds fantastic, and I love the simple soft kick-snare beat. Vocals are wonderful as always from Mike. When the lead guitar comes in around 1.10 it reminds me of something off the most recent Vampire Weekend record, except I didn't like that album and I like this A LOT. So well done, I declare this better than Vampire Weekend 10/10. Really liked this
