Helen: TC sent me a backing track and I sang over it. I also did the guitar solo because I couldn't be bothered to write any more words :P
TC: I did the music except the raunchy lead. Helen took a great angle and wrote something I couldn't. She spoils me sometimes.
You see her mind wandering
And you wonder where she went
But you know it happens all the time
Cause she's much too curious
To keep her thoughts on just one thing
So it happens all the time
She's an inquisitive woman
She wants to know everything
You see her eye wandering
And you wonder where it went
But you know it happens all the time
'Cause she was never
Yours in the first place
So it's gonna happen all the time
She's an independent woman
Doesn't belong to anyone
You've got to give her space; got to give her time
Even then there's not guarantee she'll give you anything
You see someone else
And they're falling for her
But you know it happens all the time
She's an amazing woman
But she doesn't want you at all.

Great collab. The lyric builds up the character very well. Nice harmonies. Great raunchy guitar lead in the solo section!

I'm especially liking the vocal harmonies in the second verse because of the way they bring out the prettiness in the chord progression. They emphasize it with surprising synergy; really nice choices there.

Great tune and lyric. Like the lyrical guitar solo. I like how it takes a while to figure out what the singer really is talking about. Fun. Thx!
@guatecoop Feb 2022
This is the kind of song that could be taken in a number of directions....it could be garage rock or country and it would only need different tones. This collab works really well and you might not even know that it's two people because it just works. I love the playing and tone on that solo...is that your beautiful new guitar? Sounds like it. Well done and great collab!

I like how you work the melody over the music, a challenge sometimes when it's someone else's music that you're not changing at all to fit a melody..! and you've got some really good hooky lines with the 'happens all the time', good job !!
@cubizm Feb 2022
I love the way you adapt to so many styles of music. So I could see this going either way: the narrator is either the "you" or "the woman." Don't think she is a neutral 3rd party. I kind of think the narrator is the "you" in this song, which makes it sadder and sweeter.
@heliosonorous Feb 2022
Nicely done, well produced track, that guitar solo lays well on top of the rest!
@seemanski Feb 2022
Great use of the backing track and I love the solo so good job you couldn't be bothered to write more words. Really enjoyed your words, really clever way to make something that is usually pretty clichéd fresh and interesting.
@cubizm Feb 2022
Your guitar licks cut right to the heart of a song. Loved hearing you sing melodically in this one. Cool song. cool concept. Like that your narrator is not saying it will work out, she knows it won't .
@andygriff Feb 2022
This collaboration certainly works, melds together seamlessly to my ears. Nice work!
@coolparadiso Feb 2022
it does meld together very seamlessly! good strong lyric and the music is such a pleasure to the ear!
@valeriecox Feb 2022
Nice, smooth acoustic track. I really like the folky vibe. It's my first love. Oh man that last line is a killer. Too sad.
@pooka Feb 2022
If I heard this on Smooth Radio I would assume it was a completely professional song!
@karan Feb 2022
This is excellent! Love the chord progressions, the harmonies, and of course the lyrics, which tell a story many will be able to relate to.
@pippa Feb 2022
Interesting storyline, and hard to imagine it wasn't written music and words together, because it all fits so well. Good creative enterprise.
@cheslain Feb 2022
Splendid! I really like the lyrics, somewhat tragic though they may be. The form stays intact throughout but the small changing of words unravels the story and reveals more about the character. Musically this has pleasant clap-a-longability and foot-tappatude (technical terms, I know).
@nancyrost Feb 2022
The words follow the music so well in the way the chord progression rises and falls. Great writing musically and lyrically It's an emotional journey and a statement. Enjoyed the performance, too - just enough production and harmony to serve the song.
@johnnycashpoint Feb 2022
Pretty tune. Getting strong Inspiral Carpets vibes from this one. You know the one I mean :)
@kahlo2013 Feb 2022
Great uptempo folk feel with the driving guitar and wonderful guitar solo. The hook is great and relatable. Love the melody. Oftentimes , but fortunately not all the time. it seems for me at least that the more independent, inquisitive, intelligent, intriguing, and, unavailable someone is for whatever reason - romance, research collaboration - the more compelling and attractive they are to me. Great collaboration!
@stephenwordsmith Feb 2022
Well, this got less and less optimistic. Wasn't expecting that ending; was holding a torch for the second person until those last two lines. Turned what I thought was a character study into a personal tragedy... Perhaps a character study of someone else, who is either in denial of their chances, blind to the situation, or, more positively, absolutely refusing to let the odds beat them. As long as they're not hurting anyone by it.
A good song makes you think, and this one did.
