This is a song about travel and thinking I knew what I wanted with my life. Plans can change, and that is not necessarily a bad thing at all.
I thought I had my life all figured out
Back in 2014 when I went overseas
I was 20 years young craving adventure
And that’s all I sought for 5 whole years
There was a street
In Nagasaki
Called Shindaikumachi
And it’s where I called my home
There was a splendid view from
The Tokyo Skytree
And I got to see it
With one of my oldest friends
And he’s gonna stand in my wedding
One of these days
Cause I’m gonna marry
The woman of my dreams
And I’m gonna go wherever she wants to go
And she wants to see places I’ve been
Like the Tokyo Skytree
And Shindaikumachi
And maybe Kinkakuji in Kyoto
And we’re gonna go at our own pace
Life is not, not a race
I had the hardest time picturing my life
Beyond the age of 30
But she gives me hope for the future
And one of these days I’m gonna marry her
And it’s gonna be the day of my life

This makes me think of my partner. She spent a year in Japan teaching English and has been back two other times. It is her happy place. You captured how this is your happy place and your desire to link that to your new happy place: being with your girlfriend.

Love those chords. Love how the lead is almost like a pad behind the acoustic. Really cool story too.
