I hadn't plan to do anything today with music...we all need a break. But I had read about the capo challenge and I decided to give it a try. This little ditty is based on a capo place on the third fret but only on the low four strings. So..
6-G , 5-C, 4-F, 3-Bb, 2-B, 1-E
a Gm11th maybe?
Played on a Taylor 114ce mic'ed 14th fret with a SM57
PS i had to move my hand under the capo and I hit it...you can hear that in the recording. It also got in the way of the little run....the fun/issues of a live recording

This is so lovely. I'm lost in the lovely picking. Bravo!

Sweet laidback feel with really cool chords. Glad you wrote when you didn't feel like it!

This feels like rain falling gently in the woods while I sit on a cottage verandah listening from a rocking chair as the rain gets a little stronger. Your beautiful guitar playing made me see all that. Thank you.
@nancycunning Mar 2022
That's some gorgeous playing. Love how that string rings again and again...

I like how you navigate the picking here. And then as it gets more chordal around 1:16 you really get a sense of the higher register delivered by the capo which is cool. Nice tune all round - a great execution of a challenge and nicely recorded too

Very nice would fit in with some private parts and pieces from Anthony Phillips. The twist around 2:20 is very cool.

Yeah, working around capos is an art form in and of itself. If you want to do the partial capo thing more often, you can get a mandolin/ukulele size capo and use that for the partial.
This was a fun and relaxing listen. Kind of like laying back in a field of flowers looking up at a deep blue blue blue endless sky.

Tit4tat This is very tidy playing indeed! Those partials have brought up some interesting pieces of which this is one! Very good indeed.

I admire the commitment to playing an instrument well. Loving the sounds produced here. #tit4tat

Wonderful work. This capo trick does a nice job of highlighting your guitar playing skills. Sounds lovely.
@wacha Feb 2022
This is really beautiful I love the way the melody moves along but it still feels grounded. Really nice work!
@elainedimasi Feb 2022
Enjoyed listening to this piece develop as it goes.
@spazsquatch Feb 2022
Very pleasing.
@nadine Feb 2022
A partial capo? This sounds super interesting and unexpected. Whatever you played there it could be a beginning of a cool pop rock song. Melancholic yet uplifting.
@kenmattsson Feb 2022
Very cool sounds. Sometimes I think I know what's happening, and then something unexpected shows up. Good job.
@kristi Feb 2022
This is lovely. I like how it gently rolls along and then changes up a bit halfway thru and comes back again. Gotta act when inspiration strikes...
@dragondreams Feb 2022
Listening to this is inspiring me to try partial capo tricks. But then, also while listening to this, I'm glad you're doing the heavy lifting so I can sit back and just enjoy the music. This is lovely. :-)
@fonte Feb 2022
Nice! Sounds great, must try that cappo trick this month!

Nice, pretty tune....... funny I had been playing around with a capo on the Bottom 4 strings as well.... in fact my song Mr. Spaceman, the backing acoustic guitar, had a capo on the third fret but only on bottom 4 strings . It's a great thing to do, I love the drone effect especially playing the top two strings open.... any chord seems to breathe differently! Anyway, nice job!
