Skirmish was straight talk.
Crisis Talks
We're sitting down together
With our own choice of drink
Sat beside us
Discussions turn to the bad weather
That exists between us
Old wounds to resolve
These are crisis talks
Hoping we can avert the war
Prevent the battling actions
Before one of us leaves through that door
Nobody wants bloodshed ahead
You're blaming me for drinking
But that can't be on me
To accept that
Frustrations are that we do not talk
And that means we feel flat
We're too old for cold
These are crisis talks
Hoping we can avert the war
Prevent the battling actions
Before one of us leaves through that door
Nobody wants bloodshed ahead
We've built up barricades
That neither of us want to pull down
But imagining a life without each other
Not sure how that would turn out
These are crisis talks
Hoping we can avert the war
Prevent the battling actions
Before one of us leaves through that door
Nobody wants bloodshed ahead

Really well written take on the prompt, that chorus is solid. Nice skirmish!

Well depicted. I particularly can relate to the bridge, that horrible ambivalence and paralysis whether neither choice feels right. Talks are better than that, and a step in the direction of hope.

Ah yes, been there and done that and have the scars. Fine evocation of this moment of crisis or "trouble in paradise" as my partner always notes when she sees signs of tension in a couple.

These lyrics are so real and heavy. A very nice write that many will relate to. Super skirmish!
