Feb 2022 bed-head bed-voice one-take
I’m not long awake, and half way through a cup of tea… checked fawm and found a skirmish prompt from not too long ago, and figured why the hell not… The prompt was Tell me a story…
This is recorded from my bed, straight into iphone, without any forethought! Totally made up as I went along… considering all that, I actually really like it!!
I woke up this morning
with a heavy head
I woke up this morning
in an empty bed
I woke up this morning
forgot what I said
I woke up this morning
in an empty bed
When I went You said -
woah, that’s the end
When I went I said -
Sure, why not?
When I went You said -
Oh, that’s the end
And I went, I went…
When I woke up this morning
I had a heavy head
When I woke up this morning
Oh, it was in an empty bed
When I woke up this morning
I forgot what I said
When I woke up this morning
It was in an empty bed
And When I went I said -
Don’t lose your head
And when I went You said -
Screw you
I woke up this morning
in an empty bed
I woke up this morning
with a heavy head
I woke up this morning
forgot what I said
I woke up this morning
in an empty bed
I woke up this morning
forgot what I said…. ****

Love those gospely blues. For me you captured that feeling of having had some big argument, but not being able to quite remember the details...

Cool gospel feeling, Sunday morning after a Saturday night of adventure.

Wow, made up on the spot - this feels very natural and from the heart. It has a real depth, like an old spiritual. Ahem, well, except... you know... It really sends a strong emotional message though, and does it in a very unexpected way. You are braver than I am... and I am certainly glad you went for it. Really well done.

Your morning voice has such great texture!
I totally hear a banjo for this...just if you're taking suggestions.
For no forethought, this tells a very clear story.
This is effortlessly cool, and I really want to hear it grow!
I mean, I love it as is, but I hear possibilities!

Blues should be from the heart without engaging the brain in any way, so that's why this works so well. (Half a cup of tea! How did you even managed to press Record?) Fantastic sultry/grumpy vocal performance too. I really like it.

You had me at Morning Blues. Great job!
@unkept Feb 2022
Nice job and really impressive impromptu performance! Really nice bluesy song and the ending made me smile
@ductapeguy Feb 2022
That is a great write, and "screw you" is the perfect epithet in that situation.
@tunecat Feb 2022
Ab blues!! Some good rhymes abd you stay on key throughout. Good start to the day!!
@billwhite51 Feb 2022
blues is the only form that justifies the musical expression of a romantic or domestic rupture.
@skylermf Feb 2022
I really like this hook, and I think it works really well acapella! You got a laugh of me on the “screw you” line
@hornesgiftshop Feb 2022
Hard to imagine getting something new out of a break up, a pentatonic scale, or "woke up this morning", but you did. Very impressed.
@berni1954 Feb 2022
I like this soulful/gospel acapella bluesy take on the "break up" genre
@dzdandcunfsd Feb 2022
blues are either best sang first thing in the morning, or after a long day of work followed by heavy drinking and smoking... for me there is no in between :D
Great skirmish!

Oh, I know that feeling. Nice vocal tone and good performance. Good morning!
