A little girl was born
In Cairo
A flower growing in the sand
Her papa played the violin
Till war stepped in
And changed the man
For 40 days and forty nights
She wore a bandage on her eyes
And her reflection stayed unclear
All through the years
In city lights
Golden lady
Why did
You cry
With the world
At your feet
Golden lady
Bright like
Sunshine
Why’d you have
To leave
A supernova
In the cosmos
A voice as
Sweet
Like summer wine
She could enchant a million souls
Just with her curls
More with her mind
Golden lady
Why did
You cry
With the world
At your feet
Golden lady
Bright like
Sunshine
Why’d you have
To leave
Only she knows
No encore, this show -
Forgive me was all she wrote
Golden lady
Why did
You cry
With the world
At your feet
Golden lady
Bright like
Sunshine
Why’d you have
To leave

This is fantastic. I love that is has almost a madrigal sound. Guitar and vocal are very well performed and the lyric paints a great image.

Good write: the characterization is deft, and the musical and vocal setting most fitting.
