Skirmish: https://fawm.org/forums/topic/12660/
The prompt was an AI-generated image of a red-haired person dressed in green. I checked that against my running list of topics I want to write about, and thought I could connect it to a recent fox attack on the farm, by going through Disney's Robin Hood (one of my favorite movies).
I mean, he's got the red hair and green clothes, right? Maybe a bit of a stretch, but it was the closest I could get from this unusual prompt to something that was already on my mind.
Long ago and far away,
A fox in hunter green became the hero of his day.
Just because he liked to take.
Yeah, I hate taxes too, but buddy someone's gotta pay.
Who are you? Who am I?
Who the hell gave you the right
To attack my chickens in the night?
Every [villain] thinks he's good,
And every fox [believes] he's Robin Hood.
Steal some food to feed your friends
Whether that's heroic, well I guess that all depends
If it's coming off my plate
You best run back to Disney, 'cause out here you'll find a different fate
Who are you? Who am I?
Who the hell gave you the right
To attack my chickens in the night?
Every [villain] thinks he's good,
And every fox [believes] he's Robin Hood.
If you come for what I've got
This might be the night we find out who's a better shot
Don't go thinking it's not crime
I'm writing this story, and I'm the hero this time.
Who are you? Who am I?
Who the hell gave you the right
To attack my chickens in the night?
Every [villain] thinks he's good,
And every fox [believes] he's Robin Hood.

Like the saying goes, "everyone is the hero of their own story." Nice take, impressive jump on "right".

Great job with this. Now I need to rewatch to see if there were anthropomorphic chickens in the Disney classic

Took some doing to turn that strange prompt into this. Well done. On top of that it's a good reminder to those who forget that Robin Hood was an armed robber.

Now that's a good skirmish. Love the dark take on Robin Hood's morality. I think it works with "every body" but your substitution in the lyrics with "villain" might make it hit harder - it's such a loaded word.
Nice one.

I can't get the song to play... it's probably my internet, this is the second one from the skirmish I can't, but this is an amazing lyric. I will come back tomorrow and try to listen.
That chorus is spectacular, and that Robin Hood is also one of my favorite movies. Seeing a double feature of that and Bambi at the drive-thru is one of my first memories as a child.
edit: Yes, glad it was just my internet. This performance was for sure worth coming back for, really love this! Not many foxes around here..they all seemed to of moved to the cities... but sure do have my hands full with coyotes, bobcats, and feral hogs....have even seen an owl get a few chicks. Good luck!

Heck of a jump to (steampunk?) Robin Hood, but I applaud the originality in making that leap, cool. And then, perhaps picture-influenced, you get all philosophical on us. Robin Hood in repose? Thinkin chickins?
But seriously, this is a pretty serious song and you make these connections effortlessly, kind of like the bendy acoustic jamming in the middle. I'm enjoying this immensely. It's a very complete story for a skirmish. "Everybody thinks he's good, every fox... thinks he's Robin Hood" is 14 carat gold. Great job.

Oh wow, I didn't get Robin Hood at all from that art. But that's one of the things I love about skirmishes, different people see different things and make such totally different songs.
I love the line "every fox now thinks he's Robin Hood"

Man, this is cool. excellent!! are you singing and playing this live?
