SKirmish thread:

Feeling sad tonight cause a friend told me they're moving out of state! That got me into a very emotional state just prior to this skirmish. I wasn't going to do one, but I thought it would help and IT DID, even if only to occupy my mind for a little bit.
I was going to make a eurorack module patch, but when I fired it up, no sound was coming out after I patched it, so I quickly pulled all the cables and turned it off. Then
I went and ran both of my Korg MS2000R synths at the same time and just fiddled about for ten minutes or so. a bit of delay and reverb applied both during the direct recording to my TASCAM DP008EX digitial recorder, then into my DAW, with a little compression, a preamp and a little more reverb. Then I cloned the track and split it L/R and dragged one side just a hair out of phase for the echo.
I thought about that friggin weird picture the whole time too.

Some really interesting sounds- like crying or st least like a living being! The plicks work well ti give it a sense of forward motion .listened right to end - that’s quite a development you got there: those single notes start to be foreground and the ‘voices’ background. Interesting effect on us as listeners. Great work

So glad to hear something different! Thanks for the rundown on how it was produced. Interesting sounds.

I really like the piano part holding this all together....... until it doesn’t..........then it just gets wild.... :)

This sure does sound like that picture looked that's for sure, especially knowing it was done by a robot.
This sounds like a poor robot deciding if it wants to make art or take over humanity and finally coming to the conclusion why not both.

Its probably just my internet but getting an IP error from soundcloud, sounds interesting though I will for sure be back for a listen.

I only understand about half of the words in your description of what happened, but I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I can picture tubes and wires reaching out, looking for a place to port and not finding. Like snakes springing hungry from Medusa's head, but organically mechanical. Really weird and disorienting in a good way. I have not heard anything remotely like this on fawm this Feb yet, so here's to new song experiences! :)

Yes! I hear the glitchy steampunk!

Ten seconds in and this totally sounds like that picture!! Great work. Going out of phase was a stroke of genius. Talk about prosody! I’ll come back to listen again to pick up on more nuances.

I'm imagining a strange steampunk robot that needs a tune-up! Poor thing, where's the oil can?
Still, it sounds sad and frustrated and emotive, so I think you succeeded in what you were aiming for.
