This was supposed to be a one note song from start to finish, but I chickened out and one-noted the refrain only. But I counted it anyway, so sue me! Maybe I'll replace it with a real one-noter before March, we'll see.
Are We Alone
Refrain:
One is one and all alone
And ever more it shall be so
We all thought, not long ago
We were unique, that that was that
That our earth was central to the stars
That it was Sovereign – and FLAT
We are one world, all alone
In this solar system we call home
We used to think that we were stuck here
That from this planet we’d never roam
R: One is one and all alone
And ever more it shall be so
But now we’ve travelled to the Moon
And maybe soon we’ll visit Mars
But will we never, in our lifetime
Find other life among the stars?
We now believe there is life out there
And maybe species like our own
It is however quite unlikely
We would find one close to home
R: One is one and all alone
But will it always - be so
But if one in a million planets out there
Could support life in any guise
Perhaps one in-a-billion of-those living worlds
has intelligent creatures, thoughtful, wise.
R So are we in this space alone
That has never ever been so

nice job Mike! Loved how you changed the ending of your one note section at the end of the song.
Clever witty and fun another great rangermike song!
my fav lines:
We all thought, not long ago
We were unique, that that was that
That our earth was central to the stars
That it was Sovereign – and FLAT
Bravo!!!

The one note chorus works really well. I like the contrast between verses and chorus.

Nice write! Clever to pull in the "Green Grow the Rushes" reference, along with making the maths of the "are we alone?" question comprehensible.
