Have you ever been in a relationship where you got totally sucked in and were no longer in the driver's seat, just getting pulled along by sheer momentum, and wanting to get out but not really knowing how to? Well, that's where Satellite came from. I'm so glad I didn't burn up in the atmosphere when I finally did pull myself out of the orbit of my last relationship because now I'm exactly where I want to be.
The song is so new I'm still uncertain of my melody and harmonies in certain parts but I wanted to get something down to get back to later. This take is riddled with mistakes and I'm posting it anyway because I'm too tired to fix them right now. I love FAWM for releasing me of my perfectionism!!
I got sucked into your orbit
Your gravity more powerful than I
I’m not a planet around your star
Just an artificial satellite
Nothing I can do
To pull away from you
Nothing I can say
To pull myself away
Nothing I can be
To make you see me
Nothing I can have
To make me detach
Ahh I was falling
And you caught me
Ahh you’re the driver
And not me
Ahh I don’t feel
That I am free
I was going about my way
You altered my trajectory
It’s lonely on this orbital path
I thought that you’d be perfect for me
Nothing I can do
To pull away from you
Nothing I can say
To pull myself away
Nothing I can be
To make you see me
Nothing I can have
To make me detach
Ahh I was falling
And you caught me
Ahh you’re the driver
And not me
Ahh I don’t feel
That I am free
How do satellites fall out of orbit
Do they burn up in the atmosphere
I don’t know where to go from here
Can’t I get back to the northern hemisphere
Please don’t tell me it’s true what I fear
Nothing I can do
To pull away from you
Nothing I can say
To pull myself away
Nothing I can be
To make you see me
Nothing I can have
To make me detach
Ahh I was falling
And you caught me
Ahh you’re the driver
And not me
Ahh I don’t feel
That I am free

Awwww... thanks Caitlin. If I could somehow type the sound of a really tight, MamaBear hug i would do that. Thank you so much for the hug, the shapeshifting vibes and for being such an awesome Mama to your kiddo. I give to you this Mama Bear Award!
So that is crazy about those two songs right???
What's funny is after I wrote the lyrics, I searched the web to see if maybe somehow I ripped someone off subconsciously. Nope. The songs out there with the title Satellite (except for maybe Dave Matthews' song) are surprisingly vapid, terrible songs. So I thought, "whew. I'm in the clear."
And then I saw your song today!!! Too funny.
Thanks for the kind words on my song as well.
Take care!
Muah!

I found your comment on HoppieRNs soundboard where you'd talked about your song called "Satellite" and thought I'd take a look.
So this is REALLY weird. I posted a song called "Planet and Moon" about the same time as you did yours and our songs have MANY of the same words in it. I'm honestly smiling so hard right now people are going to think I'm planning a bank heist. I think this is so cool!
Anyway... I really like your version. The speed at which you deliver the lyrics in your chorus is pretty amazing. Love the harmony and your voice is just lovely.
So glad I stumbled across your song.

I love the dreamy feel of parts of this juxtaposed with the faster “Nothing I can do” sections. I deal with perfectionism too so I’m glad you were able to overcome and let this beautiful song through!!

Like the metaphor and the tempo changes and harmonies. Very nicely done!

The lyrics here are so incredibly powerful, and I love the 10,000 Maniacs vibe of the song you created. The harmonies are lovely, especially in the bridge. If this is your rushed and imperfect version, I can’t wait to hear what it evolves into!
